Role & responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate the day-to-day activities of the laboratory.
- Ensure accurate, reliable, and timely reporting of laboratory test results.
- Manage and allocate duties to laboratory staff according to workload and competency.
- Maintain quality control and quality assurance standards in all laboratory processes.
- Ensure proper collection, identification, handling, storage, and transportation of specimens.
- Monitor the functioning, maintenance, and calibration of laboratory equipment.
- Maintain adequate stock of reagents, consumables, and other laboratory supplies.
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies, safety procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Monitor laboratory hygiene, infection control, and biomedical waste management.
- Review and verify laboratory reports before releasing critical or important results.
- Ensure proper documentation and maintenance of laboratory records and registers.
- Train, guide, and evaluate laboratory staff to improve their knowledge and performance.
- Investigate and take corrective action for errors, complaints, and quality-related issues.
- Coordinate with doctors, nurses, hospital departments, and other diagnostic services.
- Prepare laboratory reports, statistics,
duty rosters, and other administrative documents.
- Ensure confidentiality and security of patient information and laboratory reports.
Preferred candidate profile
- Bachelors or Master’s degree in Medical Laboratory Technology, Medical Laboratory Science, or a related field.
- Candidate with immediate joiner preferred.
- Relevant experience in a hospital or multispeciality laboratory, preferably in a supervisory or managerial role.
- Strong knowledge of laboratory procedures, quality control, and quality assurance.
- Good understanding of NABL, NABH, biomedical waste management, and laboratory safety standards.
- Experience in handling laboratory equipment, reagents, inventory, and maintenance.
- Positive leadership, team management, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage workload efficiently and ensure timely and accurate reporting.
- Knowledge of laboratory information systems (LIS) and basic computer applications.
- Ability to handle critical situations and resolve operational issues effectively.
- Strong commitment to patient safety, confidentiality, and professional ethics.
