As an Integration and Automation Engineer in the Technology Architecture team at Basware IT, you'll build and run the integration fabric that connects our enterprise systems — directly impacting how reliably data and processes flow across finance, operations, and customer-facing platforms. You'll design, build, and support integrations on Azure Integration Services, standing up the APIs, event-driven interfaces, and automations other teams depend on, while helping shape this into a dedicated Integration and Automation practice as it grows. You're hands-on by nature: comfortable owning a build end-to-end — writing the code, securing it, load-testing it, and troubleshooting it in production — and picking up new tools fast, including AI-assisted development, without needing everything taught.
- Integration development — design and build integrations on Azure Integration Services —
- Logic Apps, Azure Functions, Service Bus, and Event Grid/Event Hubs — that are reliable, maintainable, and reusable.
- API management — build and manage APIs end-to-end through Azure API Management, including policies, versioning, throttling, and lifecycle, exposing them securely to internal and external consumers.
- Security & authentication — implement OAuth2 / OpenID Connect, JWT validation, and Managed Identities across integrations and APIs, and manage secrets and certificates through Azure Key Vault.
- Event-driven & asynchronous processing — design pub/sub and queue-based patterns using Service Bus topics/subscriptions and Event Grid/Event Hubs for decoupled, scalable system-to-system communication.
- Data handling & transformation — map and transform data between JSON, XML, and flat-file formats, handle schema evolution,
and build validation and quality checks into pipelines rather than bolting them on afterward.
- Resilient API & integration design — build in retry policies, circuit breakers, idempotency, dead-letter handling, and graceful degradation so integrations fail safely and recover on their own wherever possible.
- Reliability & observability — monitor integrations in production using Azure Monitor, Application Insights, and Log Analytics; troubleshoot failures and drive fixes that improve stability over time.
- CI/CD & source control — build and maintain deployment pipelines in Azure DevOps (ARM/Bicep) and work disciplined Git workflows so releases are repeatable and low-risk.
- AI-assisted development — use tools like GitHub Copilot and Claude as part of your everyday workflow — for design, coding, testing, and documentation — while owning the quality of everything you ship.
- Collaboration — work closely with Enterprise Data, Solution Architecture, and AI Enablement so integrations are built with the wider platform in mind, not in isolation.
, Must-have Skills &
- Experience
- Hands-on, production-grade experience building integrations on Azure Integration Services —
- Logic Apps, Azure Functions, Service Bus, and API Management.
- Practical experience building and securing APIs end to end, including OAuth2/OpenID Connect, JWT, API keys, and Managed Identities.
- Working knowledge of event-driven architecture —
- Event Grid and/or Event Hubs, pub/sub and queue-based messaging patterns.
- Solid grasp of data handling and transformation —
- JSON, XML, schema mapping, and building validation and error handling into the pipeline itself.
- Experience designing resilient, error-resistant APIs and integrations — retry logic, circuit breakers, idempotency, and dead-letter/exception handling — not just the happy path.
- Solid programming fundamentals (C#/.NET, Python, or JavaScript) applied to Azure Functions and custom integration logic.
- A demonstrated ability to learn new tools quickly, particularly AI-assisted development tools — our toolchain evolves fast, and curiosity matters as much as current skills. Hands-on experience with Claude and/or Azure AI tooling in a real development workflow is a strong plus.
- Strong written and spoken English communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across multicultural, globally distributed teams.
- Comfort operating independently in a small, growing team, with the flexibility to take on ambiguous problems.
Nice to have
- Experience with Power Automate.
- SQL Server / T-SQL for data debugging, stored procedures, and integration troubleshooting.
- Exposure to Azure Data Factory or Databricks for data ingestion pipelines.
- Microsoft certification such as AZ-204 (Azure Developer Associate) or equivalent.
- Familiarity with Finance Technology and SaaS business
- Prior experience in an enterprise environment with multiple integrated systems.
How We Think About AI We value curiosity and a proactive willingness to explore AI-driven technologies, and we provide room to experiment and learn —
- AI capability is something we build, not just buy.
