Role Description This is a full-time, in office Indexing role based in Villianur. The Indexing professional will be responsible for reviewing documents and content, identifying key concepts and metadata, and creating accurate indexes and classification tags to support searchability and content organization. Day-to-day tasks include interpreting project guidelines, ensuring adherence to indexing standards, maintaining data quality, and meeting productivity and accuracy targets.
The role involves collaborating with team members and supervisors to clarify requirements, troubleshoot issues, and continuously improve indexing workflows. The Indexing professional will also contribute to process documentation and support quality checks to ensure consistent delivery for clients.
Qualifications
- Strong analytical and organizational abilities, including attention to detail, accuracy in data handling, and consistency in applying indexing rules and taxonomies.
- Ability to interpret and classify content using controlled vocabularies, subject headings, or categorization frameworks, with a focus on improving discoverability and search performance.
- Proficiency in basic computer applications and content management or data entry tools, with comfort working in structured, target-driven production environments.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to follow instructions, document processes, and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a relevant field such as Information Science, Library Science, Data Management, or related disciplines (other degrees considered with strong indexing aptitude).
- Prior experience in indexing, cataloging, abstracting, or content operations is an advantage, especially in publishing, research, or data services organizations.
- Willingness to work on-site in Villianur, adapt to evolving project requirements, and participate in training to learn new tools, standards, and indexing methodologies.
