Role Description
This is a role for a senior developer who thrives in a structured, AI-augmented environment where engineering rigour and velocity coexist. You'll work on a complex financial platform with real-time collaboration, cloud-native architecture, and a mature SDLC process — all amplified by AI tooling that handles the ceremony so you can focus on solving hard problems.
The Control Tower isn't bureaucracy — it's leverage. Specs become code faster. Reviews catch more. Knowledge persists across sessions. The developer who embraces this workflow ships more, with fewer defects, and leaves a transparent trail for everyone who follows.
HUB Tech Platform · SDLC Control Tower v5.x · Fund Expense Management
2. What You'll Build
The platform covers expense capture, allocation, contract management, approval workflows, GL posting, and reporting. Invoices and expenses flow in from multiple channels (PDF upload with AI extraction, webhook integrations, polling adapters, email inboxes), get normalised, classified, allocated across funds using a configurable rule engine, approved, and posted outbound to GL systems and fund admin platforms.
The entire lifecycle is period-scoped, audited, and collaborative in real-time.
Technical Challenges
- External system integrations — Developing and maintaining integrations with a growing suite of external systems (expense providers, GL platforms, procurement tools, payment systems). Each system has distinct auth patterns (OAuth2, session-based, API-key), payload formats, sync strategies (webhooks vs polling), and idempotency requirements. Built behind a provider-agnostic adapter pattern so new integrations are additive, not invasive.
- AI/LLM pipelines — Invoice OCR extraction via Azure Document Intelligence, plus LLM-powered contract parsing (extracting terms, service lines, and renewal dates from vendor contract PDFs using Azure OpenAI). Confidence scoring, human-in-the-loop review when AI confidence is low, and structured data output from unstructured documents.
- Rule-based allocation engine — A configurable calculation engine supporting multiple allocation methodologies (percentage, NAV-weighted, usage-based, product/team-based, chained rules). Effective-dated rule versions, atomic chain execution, reactive triggers, and penny-exact rounding guarantees.
- Real-time multi-user architecture — Server-Sent Events (SSE) broadcasting entity-level changes to all connected sessions. Optimistic locking with version-based conflict detection. Period-scoped state that locks and unlocks across all users simultaneously.
- Contract management — Vendor contract lifecycle (upload, AI-parse, link to expenses, track service lines and renewal dates). Contracts inform allocation rules and provide the reference point for expense validation — "is this charge consistent with what the contract says?"
- Reporting & GL posting — Configurable report templates, fund-level analytics dashboards with interactive drill-down, multi-format export (Excel, PDF, CSV). Outbound GL posting transforms allocated expenses into journal entries for external accounting systems, with approval gates and preview before commit.
- Period & accounting lifecycle — Open/close/reopen accounting periods, immutable allocation snapshots,
adjustment-only corrections post-lock, real-time KPI dashboards, and budget threshold alerting with automatic approval routing.
- Workflow & approval engine — Configurable multi-step approval workflows triggered by business rules (allocation thresholds, budget breaches, period close). Routing logic, escalation paths, delegation, and audit trails.
