About Us
- Terrafusion is a deep-tech space-to-subsurface intelligence company. We build intelligent geospatial analytics that fuse satellite remote sensing with ground and subsurface sensor data, using AI/ML as the core intelligence layer — turning raw signal into forecasts, risk scores, and actionable insight. Our work spans water resource management, agriculture, mining, and infrastructure — sectors where understanding what's happening beneath and across the surface has real operational and safety stakes. We're based in Bhopal.
About the Role A founding-level role for someone who thinks beyond writing code. You'll architect end-to-end geospatial data pipelines, build reusable AI/ML models, and set technical direction — sitting at the intersection of geospatial research, data science, and systems engineering. Remote sensing is a core input into this system, not the whole job — the bigger asks are whether you can design something that scales across multiple products, and whether you can ship real ML/DL models against messy, real-world data.
Responsibilities
- Architect the core platform — a reusable system that ingests, processes, and models data across multiple verticals (water, agriculture, mining, infrastructure), not a pile of one-off scripts
- Build data pipelines end to end: ingestion → analytics → storage
- Design and validate geospatial models and algorithms — change detection, classification, forecasting — using satellite (SAR, InSAR, multispectral) and ground-sensor data
- Own the full ML/DL lifecycle: feature engineering, training/validation, deployment, monitoring — with judgment on when classical ML is enough versus when deep learning is actually warranted
- Research methodologies, ground-truth data, and emerging algorithms relevant to our verticals, and validate models against ground-truth (IoT/SCADA, field data)
- Translate research into working prototypes, and own infrastructure/tooling decisions (compute, storage, pipeline orchestration,
build-vs-buy)
- Collaborate with part-time domain experts (hydrologists, civil/structural engineers, geologists) on feasibility and validation
- Contribute technical depth to institutional and grant conversations where methodology rigor matters, and present findings/recommendations to stakeholders
Required Skills
- 8–10 years of experience with real ownership of production systems — not just contributor-level work
- Strong software architecture background — systems that had to scale, evolve, and survive contact with reality
- Solid Python programming experience
- Experience working with satellite/geospatial data: Rasterio, GeoPandas, Shapely, GDAL , and geospatial data formats ( GeoTIFF, COG, STAC )
- Experience with PostgreSQL/PostGIS or equivalent spatial database tooling
- Hands-on ML/DL experience — model-building and deployment, not just coursework: scikit-learn, scikit-image, PyTorch, TensorFlow
- Comfort with Docker and building/deploying APIs
- Founder mindset — comfortable with ambiguity, thin resources, and wearing multiple hats early on
Positive to Haves
- Direct SAR/InSAR processing experience
- Built and deployed production geospatial APIs (e.g., FastAPI + STAC)
- Published research or Kaggle competitions in geospatial topics
- IoT/sensor data fusion experience
- Prior startup or 0→1 build experience
- Domain interest in water, disaster-risk, or agriculture
Compensation This is an equity-based founding role. Cash compensation will be modest and calibrated to early-stage runway; equity is meant to be substantial and reflective of real ownership. Exact structure open for discussion based on your contribution and stage of involvement — we're looking for someone who wants to build something they own a real piece of, not someone optimizing for near-term cash comp.
Location
Bhopal (preferred, in-person collaboration matters for a founding role) — remote considered for exceptional fits.
