The Role : Firmware QA Engineer
We’re looking for a detail-oriented Firmware QA Engineer to test and validate firmware running on our embedded automotive and ADAS devices.
In this role, you will work closely with the Firmware, Hardware, and AI teams to test new features, identify and debug issues, validate hardware-software interactions, and ensure firmware releases are stable, reliable, and production-ready.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working at the intersection of embedded software, hardware, testing, and automotive technology.
What You'll Be Doing
Firmware & Embedded Testing
- Design and execute test cases for embedded firmware and connected devices
- Prepare and maintain test cases, test plans, and test reports
- Perform functional, integration, and regression testing
- Test firmware upgrades, device configuration, and recovery scenarios
- Validate new firmware features across different device configurations
Hardware-Firmware Validation
- Test hardware-firmware interactions and device peripherals
- Validate interfaces and communication between firmware and embedded hardware
- Support testing of cameras, GPS/GNSS, and other automotive device components
- Identify and reproduce hardware-software integration issues
Debugging & Issue Investigation
- Debug firmware and device issues using logs, serial console, and basic debugging tools
- Reproduce and investigate intermittent device failures
- Work with firmware developers to identify, reproduce, and troubleshoot issues
- Verify fixes and perform regression testing before firmware releases
- Support field issue analysis and root-cause investigation
Communication and Connectivity Testing
- Validate communication interfaces such as CAN, UART, I2C, SPI, and Ethernet
- Perform connectivity testing across relevant embedded and automotive interfaces
- Validate at least one connectivity domain such as Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, cellular (LTE/5G), GNSS, or vehicle networking
Stability & Release Testing
- Perform stability, stress, and long-duration testing
- Validate firmware reliability under different operating and environmental conditions
- Maintain testing documentation, test reports, and release records
- Support firmware release validation and ensure production readiness
Test Automation
- Automate repetitive testing activities using Python or scripting
- Develop and maintain basic test scripts and utilities where required
- Identify opportunities to improve testing efficiency and coverage through automation
What You Must Have · 2–5 years of experience in Embedded/Firmware QA, Embedded Testing, or a related role
· Good understanding of embedded C/C++, firmware development concepts, and microcontrollers/microprocessors
· Hands-on experience with Linux / Embedded Linux
· Basic programming or scripting knowledge, preferably Python
· Good understanding of communication protocols such as CAN, UART, SPI, or I2C
· Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills
· Comfortable working with both hardware and software
· Hands-on validation experience in at least one connectivity domain: Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, cellular (LTE/5G), GNSS, or vehicle networking
· Good understanding of software testing methodologies, including functional, integration, and regression testing
· Strong attention to detail and ability to document issues clearly
Good to Have
· Experience in Automotive, ADAS, Telematics, or Mobility products
· Experience testing cameras, GPS/GNSS, vehicle devices, or embedded automotive systems
· Experience with OTA/FOTA testing
· Experience with firmware upgrade, device recovery, or configuration testing
· Exposure to hardware debugging tools and embedded test equipment
· Experience with test automation frameworks or scripting for embedded system
