As we continue to scale, we are looking for a Finance Lead – Reconciliation who can take ownership of our financial reconciliation processes, ensure accuracy across transactions and settlements, and build robust systems and controls to support our growing business.

Role Overview

We are looking for a detail-oriented and analytical Finance Lead – Reconciliation who can manage end-to-end reconciliation across payment gateways, bank accounts, internal systems, refunds, settlements, and other financial transactions.

This role requires someone who is comfortable working with large volumes of data, identifying discrepancies, improving processes, and collaborating closely with Finance, Operations, Product, and external payment partners.

You will play a critical role in ensuring that every transaction is accurately accounted for and every discrepancy is identified and resolved on time.

Key Responsibilities

- Reconciliation & Transaction Management

- Own the end-to-end daily/monthly reconciliation of transactions across payment gateways, bank accounts, internal ledgers, and other financial systems.
- Reconcile collections, settlements, refunds, chargebacks, cancellations, and failed transactions.
- Identify transaction mismatches, short settlements, duplicate entries, missing transactions, and other discrepancies.
- Investigate reconciliation breaks and coordinate with relevant teams for timely resolution.
- Maintain accurate reconciliation trackers and ensure all outstanding items are followed through to closure.
- Perform periodic reconciliation of bank statements, payment gateway reports, and internal transaction data.
- Ensure proper accounting and tracking of settlement receivables and payables.

2. Financial Controls & Process Improvement

- Develop and maintain robust reconciliation processes, SOPs, and internal controls.
- Identify gaps in existing processes and implement automation wherever possible.




- Build reconciliation dashboards and MIS reports to provide visibility into transaction and settlement status.
- Establish checks and controls to minimize financial leakage, errors, and revenue mismatches.
- Continuously improve the efficiency, accuracy, and turnaround time of reconciliation processes.

3. Payment Gateway & Partner Management

- Work closely with payment gateways, banks, and other financial partners to resolve settlement and transaction-related issues.
- Track settlement cycles and ensure expected funds are received within defined timelines.
- Investigate discrepancies between gateway reports, bank credits, and internal records.
- Coordinate on refunds, chargebacks, failed payments, and settlement-related queries.
- Maintain documentation and records of all partner reconciliations and open issues.

4. Reporting & MIS
- Prepare regular reconciliation and financial MIS reports for management.
- Track key metrics such as:
- Total collections
- Successful and failed transactions
- Settlements received
- Refunds and chargebacks
- Outstanding reconciliation items
- Unreconciled transactions
- Financial discrepancies
- Highlight significant variances, risks, and exceptions to senior management.
- Support month-end and year-end closing activities with accurate reconciliation data.

5. Compliance & Audit Support
- Ensure reconciliation processes are aligned with applicable accounting and financial controls.
- Support internal, statutory, and financial audits by providing accurate transaction-level data and supporting documentation.
- Assist in maintaining proper records for GST, TDS, revenue recognition, and other applicable financial requirements.
- Ensure reconciliation-related audit queries are addressed accurately and within timelines.

6. Cross-functional Collaboration
- Work closely with Finance,



Operations, Product, Engineering, Customer Support, and Business teams to resolve transaction-level issues.
- Partner with the Product/Tech team to identify system-level reconciliation gaps and automation opportunities.
- Help establish clear ownership and workflows for resolving financial discrepancies.
- Act as the finance point of contact for transaction and settlement-related escalations.

Qualifications
- 2–4 years of experience in Finance, Accounting, Reconciliation, Payments, or a related function.
- Strong understanding of bank reconciliation, payment gateway reconciliation, settlements, refunds, and transaction accounting.
- Experience working with large transaction volumes and financial datasets.
- Strong proficiency in Excel/Google Sheets; knowledge of SQL, BI tools, or accounting software is a robust advantage.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to identify patterns, investigate discrepancies, and drive issues to closure.
- Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills.
- Experience in a startup, fintech, payments, e-commerce, or high-volume transaction environment will be an advantage.
