About the Role We are looking for an experienced and commercially astute Finance Controller to lead the finance controllership function and ensure robust financial governance, reporting, compliance, and internal controls across the business.

The ideal candidate will be a Chartered Accountant with 8–10 years of post-qualification experience, with solid expertise in financial controllership, accounting, reporting, audit, compliance, and process controls. Experience with a large, reputed retail or consumer-facing organization will be strongly preferred.

The individual should be comfortable operating in a fast-paced, high-growth environment and partnering closely with business and leadership teams to drive financial discipline and informed decision-making.

**Key Responsibilities

1. Financial Controllership & Reporting**

- Own the overall finance controllership function, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of financial reporting.
- Lead the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes.
- Ensure preparation and review of financial statements in accordance with applicable accounting standards and company policies.
- Drive balance sheet governance, account reconciliations, provisions, accruals, and ageing reviews.
- Establish strong financial controls and ensure integrity of the company's financial data.
- Provide meaningful financial insights and analysis to senior management.

2. Accounting & Governance

- Oversee accounting operations and ensure adherence to accounting policies, processes, and internal controls.
- Review and strengthen chart of accounts, accounting processes, and financial controls.
- Ensure appropriate accounting treatment for complex transactions, revenue recognition, inventory, leases,

fixed assets, provisions, and other key areas.




- Drive standardization and automation of finance processes wherever possible.

3. Audit & Compliance

- Lead and manage statutory, internal, tax, and other financial audits.
- Act as a key point of contact for auditors and ensure timely closure of audit observations.
- Ensure compliance with applicable statutory and regulatory requirements.
- Partner with tax and legal teams on relevant finance and compliance matters.
- Monitor changes in accounting standards and regulatory requirements and assess their impact on the business.

4. Retail Finance & Business Controls

- Develop and strengthen financial controls across stores, warehouses, supply chain, inventory, procurement, and other retail operations.
- Ensure robust controls around inventory accounting, shrinkage, stock adjustments, markdowns, discounts, promotions, and vendor settlements.
- Work closely with business teams to identify financial and operational risks and implement appropriate controls.
- Monitor key retail finance metrics and investigate significant variances.

5. Internal Controls & Process Improvement

- Design, implement, and continuously improve internal financial controls and SOPs.
- Identify control gaps and drive corrective actions in collaboration with relevant stakeholders.
- Support internal control testing and ensure timely remediation of identified gaps.
- Leverage technology, ERP systems,



and automation to improve efficiency, accuracy, and visibility.

6. Business Partnership

- Partner with the Finance Leadership, Business, Operations, Supply Chain, Procurement, and Commercial teams.
- Provide financial perspectives on business decisions and help identify risks and opportunities.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, business planning, and financial performance reviews.
- Translate financial information into clear insights for senior stakeholders.

7. Team Leadership

- Lead, mentor, and develop the finance controllership team.
- Build a high-performance culture focused on accuracy, accountability, controls, and continuous improvement.
- Drive effective collaboration between controllership and other finance functions.

Candidate Profile Essential Qualifications

- Chartered Accountant (CA) from ICAI.
- 8–10 years of relevant post-qualification experience in finance controllership, accounting, reporting, audit, and financial governance.
- Strong experience managing end-to-end controllership / financial reporting.
- Excellent understanding of accounting standards, financial controls, audit, and statutory compliance.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.

Preferred Experience

- Prior experience with large, established brands or professionally managed organizations.
- Experience in Retail, E-commerce, FMCG, Consumer, D2C, or other high-volume businesses.
- Exposure to businesses with a large store / outlet / warehouse network will be an advantage.
- Experience managing complex inventory, revenue, vendor, and multi-location accounting environments.

Experience in finance transformation, process automation, or ERP implementation would be a plus.
