Position Name: Expert Car Safety Road Accident Research

Qualification: BE / ME / MTech / M.Sc / PhD (Mechanical / Automobile / Data Science / Statistics / Mathematics)

Experience: > 6 to 15 yrs

Location: Pune

Skills Required :

- Knowledge of Different NCAP and Homologation Requirements.
- Vehicle Safety Engineering (Active Safety, Passive Safety & Biomechanics).
- Strong knowledge of Accident Research, Crash Analysis and Accident Reconstruction.
- Experience in On-field Accident Investigation and Data Collection.
- Data Analysis, Statistical Analysis and Data-based Research.
- Knowledge of Human Anatomy and Injury Biomechanics.




- Technical Leadership and Cross-functional Collaboration.
- Strong presentation skills with the ability to communicate complex technical and statistical data.
- Experience in Automation and AI/ML tools (Python, Excel, PowerPoint, Data Analytics Tools, etc.).
- Technical report preparation, risk assessment and safety strategy development.

Responsibilities and Tasks:

- Lead the Accident Research function in India for HQ and VW Group by driving in-depth crash investigations and converting real-world accident insights into actionable vehicle safety improvements.
- Establish safety priorities and research roadmaps by identifying emerging crash trends, injury patterns and future mobility risks through data-driven analysis for Skoda and VW Group vehicles in the Indian market.
- Build organizational capability in accident research through mentoring, knowledge sharing and continuous improvement of research tools, databases and analytical methods.
- Drive cross-functional collaboration with Engineering, Safety, Quality, Homologation and Product Development teams to ensure safety learnings are integrated into future vehicle programs.
- Evaluate the real-world effectiveness of safety technologies including passive safety systems, active safety systems, ADAS and emerging automated driving functions to support innovation and customer safety.
- Own and continuously improve accident research methodologies, processes and databases, ensuring globally aligned best practices for VW Group vehicles.




- Drive investigation and reconstruction of high-priority accident cases to identify crash causation factors, injury mechanisms and vehicle safety improvement opportunities.
- Apply advanced data analytics, statistical analysis and AI/ML techniques to derive meaningful insights from accident databases and support evidence-based decision-making.
- Analyze and present complex accident, crash and injury data through technical reports, management reviews and stakeholder presentations.
- Manage software and hardware procurement, maintenance and operational readiness for accident research investigations and testing activities.
- Support regulatory compliance, NCAP assessments and homologation readiness through correlation of real-world accident findings with testing, simulation and safety assessment programs.
- Deliver timely and accurate technical reports, safety recommendations and risk assessments to support management decision-making, product safety strategy and field issue investigations.
- Act as a key technical interface with HQ, VW Group stakeholders and external agencies on accident research, vehicle safety evaluation and future safety initiatives.
