Company Description National Association for the Blind, Delhi (NAB Delhi) is a well-established organization that has been working since 1979 for the education and rehabilitation of persons with blindness or low vision. The association runs a flagship inclusive education program in partnership with leading mainstream schools across Delhi, supported by remedial classes delivered by special educators at NAB Delhi. NAB Delhi operates a hostel in Sector 5, R.K.
Puram, New Delhi, accommodating around 160 students with blindness from outside Delhi who are part of the education program. The organization also provides transportation for these students to attend 27 different mainstream schools in South Delhi, maintaining dedicated vehicles and drivers for this purpose. NAB Delhi is committed to creating equal opportunities and supporting learners with visual impairments to achieve their full potential.
Role Description The Employment & Placement Officer is a full-time, on-site role based in New Delhi at NAB Delhi. The role involves identifying suitable employment opportunities for persons with blindness or low vision, building and maintaining relationships with employers, and coordinating campus placement and job drives. The Employment & Placement Officer will conduct career counseling sessions, guide students and trainees on job readiness, and design and deliver training programs to enhance employability skills.
Daily responsibilities include maintaining placement records, liaising with education and training teams, organizing employer interactions and workshops,
and supporting candidates through application, interview, and onboarding processes. The role also requires promoting inclusion in workplaces and advocating for accessible and reasonable accommodations for candidates.
Qualifications
- Candidates should possess skills in campus placement and employer outreach to identify, develop, and manage job opportunities for persons with visual impairment.
- Candidates should possess strong communication skills, including clear written and verbal communication, presentation, and the ability to engage confidently with employers and candidates.
- Candidates should possess skills in career counseling and guidance to support individuals in choosing suitable career paths and preparing for job applications and interviews.
- Candidates should possess training and education skills to design and deliver employability workshops, soft skills training, and orientation sessions for students and trainees.
- Relevant qualifications such as a bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Human Resources, Education, Psychology, or a related field are preferred.
- Experience working with persons with disabilities, especially visual impairment, and familiarity with inclusive employment practices will be an advantage.
- Solid organizational and record-keeping abilities, proficiency in basic computer applications, and the capacity to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams are beneficial.
- Understanding of local labor market trends and willingness to network extensively with corporate, government, and non-profit employers is desirable.
