Job Summary

Kalyanam Karoti is looking for an experienced and responsible Deputy Nursing Superintendent (DNS) to support the Nursing Administration Department and ensure efficient delivery of quality nursing care across the hospital.

The DNS will assist in supervising nursing staff, maintaining patient-care standards, preparing duty rosters, monitoring nursing activities, coordinating with doctors and hospital departments, and ensuring compliance with hospital policies and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

- Supervise and coordinate the overall functioning of nursing services.
- Assist the Nursing Superintendent in day-to-day nursing administration.
- Prepare and monitor nursing staff duty rosters and shift schedules.
- Ensure adequate nursing staff deployment in different departments and shifts.
- Monitor nursing care and ensure compliance with hospital standards.
- Conduct regular rounds of wards, OPD, OT, ICU and other clinical areas as applicable.
- Ensure proper documentation of nursing care, patient records and registers.
- Monitor medication administration and adherence to prescribed procedures.
- Ensure proper infection prevention and control practices.
- Monitor cleanliness, hygiene and safety within nursing areas.
- Coordinate with doctors, nursing staff, technicians and other hospital departments.
- Address nursing-related patient and attendant concerns professionally.
- Ensure proper handover and takeover between nursing shifts.
- Monitor attendance,



punctuality, discipline and performance of nursing staff.
- Identify training needs and support staff training and development.
- Assist in orientation and induction of newly recruited nursing staff.
- Monitor availability and proper use of nursing supplies and equipment.
- Report shortages, breakdowns and other operational issues to management.
- Ensure emergency preparedness and appropriate nursing response.
- Participate in quality improvement and patient-safety initiatives.
- Assist in maintaining hospital accreditation and regulatory documentation.
- Prepare nursing-related reports and submit them to senior management.
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies, SOPs and applicable nursing standards.

Educational Qualification

Essential: B.Sc. Nursing or GNM from a recognized institution.

Preferred: M.Sc. Nursing / Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing with relevant hospital administration experience.

Registration: Valid registration with the applicable State Nursing Council is required.
