At DEIF, we are currently looking for a full-time Control Software Engineer – Turbine Control (TC) to join our Product Management organization and contribute to the development of next-generation control solutions for Steam and Hydro turbine applications.

About The Job

As our new Control Software Engineer, you will play a key role in developing, maintaining, and evolving DEIF's Turbo Control (TC) platform for Steam and Hydro turbine applications.

You will work primarily with embedded software developed in C and C++, contributing to a common software platform shared across Steam and Hydro turbine applications. You will also be involved in the transition towards DEIF's next-generation controller platform based on CODESYS.

The role offers significant interaction with Product Management in Denmark, software architects, application consultants, OEM customers, subsidiaries, and cross-functional engineering teams around the world.

You will be part of an international and technically driven environment where your software development skills, problem-solving abilities, and understanding of control systems will directly contribute to products used in mission-critical power generation applications.

Working Tasks & Responsibilities

- Collaborate closely with Product Management to define software features, product requirements, technical solutions, and the future roadmap for Steam and Hydro Turbine Control products.
- Design, develop, maintain, and enhance embedded software for Steam and Hydro turbine control applications using C and C++.
- Develop software based on state machine architecture and control concepts for real-time embedded applications.
- Debug, optimize, test, and validate software to ensure high performance, reliability, maintainability, and safety.
- Participate in software architecture discussions, technical design activities, code reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Contribute to the migration and development of applications on DEIF's next-generation CODESYS-based controller platform.
- Collaborate with hardware, firmware, verification, system engineering, and application engineering teams throughout the product development lifecycle.
- Work closely with Product Management, service teams, subsidiaries, and OEM customers to investigate and resolve technical and field-related issues.
- Support root cause analysis, troubleshooting, and implementation of corrective actions for software and application-related issues.
- Provide technical support, training, and guidance to sales, service, and system integration teams during product validation, commissioning, and field testing when required.




- Contribute to software specifications, architecture documentation, design descriptions, test documentation, and other technical documentation.
- Support verification and validation activities to ensure software meets product requirements and applicable quality standards.
- Stay current with relevant embedded software, control technology, industrial automation, and communication technologies.
- Ensure compliance with DEIF's Quality Management System, development processes, and Global Safety Policy.

What You'll Bring

- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline.
- 4–8 years of experience in Embedded Software Development.
- Strong programming skills in C and C++.
- Good understanding of real-time embedded systems and software development principles.
- Experience developing software using state machine architecture.
- Strong debugging, troubleshooting, and root-cause analysis skills.
- Experience with software development processes, version control systems, and collaborative development environments.
- Ability to understand and work with complex software architectures and technical requirements.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Good communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
- Ability and willingness to work in a global, cross-functional engineering environment.

Industrial Communication Protocols Experience with one or more of the following industrial communication technologies:

- CAN / CANopen
- Modbus RTU / TCP
- EtherCAT

What Will Give You An Advantage

- Experience working with the CODESYS development environment.
- Knowledge of PLC programming languages such as Structured Text (ST) and Function Block Diagram (FBD).
- Experience with model-based development or control software development.
- Knowledge of industrial automation systems and power generation applications.
- Experience developing software for industrial controllers, PLCs, or embedded control platforms.
- Understanding of control algorithms, feedback control, sequencing, and state-based control systems.
- Experience working with safety-critical or mission-critical industrial applications.

Domain Knowledge Candidates with experience or knowledge in one or more of the following areas will have a strong advantage:

- Steam turbine governor systems
- Hydro turbine governor systems
- Turbine control philosophy
- Generator control and synchronization
- Power plant automation
- Industrial process control

- Industrial automation and control systems
