Proposal Engineer – BIW Automation Projects

Role Overview:

We are looking for a Proposal Engineer with 3–4 years of experience in automotive automation, preferably BIW and robotic projects.

The role involves preparing technical and commercial proposals, developing BOMs and cost estimates, evaluating supplier quotations, and coordinating with internal engineering teams to deliver accurate and competitive project proposals.

Key Responsibilities

- Prepare technical and commercial proposals for BIW automation and robotic projects.
- Study and analyze customer RFQs, layouts, specifications, and project requirements.
- Prepare BOMs, material specifications, RFQs, and project cost estimates.
- Coordinate with Controls, Mechanical, Robotics, Purchase, and Project teams to gather proposal inputs.
- Obtain and evaluate supplier quotations and prepare technical and commercial comparison sheets.
- Estimate engineering, installation, commissioning, and manpower requirements.
- Prepare project costing and support management in finalizing quotations.
- Review electrical layouts, robot layouts, control panel requirements, cabling, safety systems, and field devices.
- Identify scope gaps, exclusions, assumptions, and customer-specific requirements.
- Support technical clarification discussions with customers, suppliers, and internal teams.




- Maintain proposal documentation, costing sheets, revisions, and supporting records.

Technical Skills:

- Good understanding of BIW automation, robotic welding, fixtures, and material handling systems.
- Basic knowledge of PLC, HMI, industrial robots, safety systems, sensors, drives, and electrical panels.
- Understanding of electrical components, cables, cable trays, field devices, and control systems.
- Strong understanding of BOM preparation, estimation, and project costing.
- Proficiency in MS Excel and MS Office.
- Knowledge of AutoCAD/EPLAN is an advantage.
- Experience with ABB, Siemens, or Allen-Bradley automation systems is preferred.

Preferred Background Anyone with experience in BIW, automotive automation, robotics, system integration, electrical engineering, controls, or industrial automation projects will be preferred.
