Reporting To

Medical Superintendent / Hospital Management

Key Responsibilities1. Clinical Care

- Provide comprehensive cardiology consultation to OPD and IPD patients.
- Evaluate, diagnose and manage patients with cardiovascular diseases.
- Develop appropriate treatment plans based on clinical findings and investigations.
- Provide appropriate follow-up and continuity of care.
- Review ECG, echocardiography, cardiac biomarkers and other relevant investigations.
- Manage patients with hypertension, ischemic heart disease, heart failure, arrhythmias and other cardiovascular conditions.

2. Emergency & Critical Care

- Provide timely evaluation and management of cardiac emergencies.
- Participate in emergency cardiac care and stabilization of critically ill patients.
- Coordinate with Emergency, ICU and other clinical departments whenever required.
- Ensure appropriate escalation or referral of patients when advanced intervention is required.

3. Inpatient & Multidisciplinary Care

- Conduct regular rounds of admitted cardiac patients.
- Coordinate with physicians, intensivists, surgeons, anesthetists and other specialists.
- Participate in multidisciplinary case discussions.
- Provide specialist cardiac input for patients admitted under other departments when required.

4. Patient & Family Counselling

- Explain diagnosis, treatment options and prognosis clearly to patients and attendants.
- Counsel patients regarding medication compliance, lifestyle modification and preventive cardiology.
- Maintain a compassionate and patient-centric approach.
- Address patient and family concerns professionally.





NABH & Quality Responsibilities The Consultant Cardiologist will be expected to actively support the hospital's NABH-oriented quality and patient-safety framework, including:

- Following approved clinical protocols and Standard Operating Procedures.
- Maintaining complete and accurate medical documentation.
- Adhering to patient-safety practices.
- Following infection prevention and control protocols.
- Ensuring appropriate medication and treatment documentation.
- Maintaining patient confidentiality and privacy.
- Supporting clinical audits and quality-improvement initiatives.
- Participating in morbidity/mortality reviews and clinical meetings where applicable.
- Supporting implementation of evidence-based clinical practices.
- Complying with hospital policies and applicable regulatory requirements.

Department Development The selected candidate will also have an opportunity to contribute to the development and expansion of the Cardiology Department, including:

- Establishing standardized cardiology clinical pathways.
- Supporting development of cardiac-care protocols.
- Advising hospital management on cardiology-related clinical requirements.
- Contributing to the development of cardiac diagnostic and treatment services.
- Building referral relationships with physicians and other healthcare professionals, where appropriate.
- Participating in clinical awareness and preventive-cardiology initiatives.
- Supporting the hospital's objective of becoming a trusted centre for cardiac care in Varanasi and surrounding areas.

Candidate Profile The ideal candidate should possess:

- DM / DrNB in Cardiology from a recognized institution.
- Valid medical registration.
- Strong clinical knowledge and diagnostic skills.
- Ability to independently assess and manage cardiology patients.
- Sound knowledge of current evidence-based cardiology practices.
- Good emergency and critical-care management skills.
- Excellent communication and counselling abilities.
- Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills.
- Professional, ethical and compassionate approach to patient care.
- Willingness to contribute to departmental development and quality initiatives.
- Commitment to patient safety and NABH quality standards.

Preferred





- Previous experience as a Consultant Cardiologist.
- Experience in a multispeciality or NABH-accredited/NABH-oriented hospital environment.
- Experience managing cardiac emergencies and critically ill patients.
- Experience in developing or strengthening cardiology services.
