Role Purpose

We are looking for an experienced Atlassian / Jira Cloud Architect to support an enterprise-scale Jira Data Center to Jira Cloud migration programme.

The candidate will act as the Jira Cloud Subject Matter Expert, providing guidance on target-state architecture, application rationalization, Marketplace app strategy, migration complexity and validation. The role will focus on architecture and advisory responsibilities rather than directly owning migration execution.

Key Responsibilities

- Advise on target-state Jira Cloud architecture, including site topology, sandbox strategy, data residency, SSO/SCIM, Atlassian Guard and permission governance.
- Lead rationalization recommendations for workflows, custom fields, schemes, screens, dashboards and Confluence spaces.
- Conduct Atlassian Marketplace app gap analysis, including Data Center-to-Cloud app parity and Connect-to-Forge considerations.
- Recommend applications to replace, retire or rebuild based on cloud compatibility and business requirements.
- Advise on integration patterns with enterprise platforms such as SAP, Salesforce and ServiceNow.
- Support migration wave criteria, project complexity assessments and go/no-go readiness reviews.
- Define validation and verification approaches for migrated data and configurations.
- Review migration outcomes, data integrity, user mapping and configuration validation with migration engineering teams.
- Provide escalation-level troubleshooting support during migration windows and hypercare.




- Document architectural decisions, standards and recommendations in Confluence.
- Communicate architectural trade-offs effectively to engineering teams and programme leadership.

Required Skills & Experience
- 10+ years of Atlassian platform experience with strong Jira Data Center and Jira Cloud expertise.
- Enterprise-scale Jira administration/architecture experience, ideally supporting 5,000+ users.
- Direct experience with Jira Data Center to Jira Cloud migration assessment and planning.
- Knowledge of Atlassian cloud migration tools and staged/staging-to-production migration approaches.
- Strong understanding of the Atlassian Marketplace ecosystem and cloud application parity.
- Experience with Atlassian Connect and Forge.
- Strong knowledge of Atlassian Guard/Access, SSO, SCIM, data residency and security/governance.
- Strong Jira and Confluence architecture and configuration experience.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Ability to provide architectural guidance and make clear technical recommendations.

Preferred Qualifications
- Atlassian certifications such as ACP-level Jira Administration.
- Experience working in regulated or highly governed environments.
- Exposure to Secure-aligned Jira configuration at enterprise scale.
