Position Overview:
We invite applications for Professors, Associate Professors, Assistant Professors, and Senior Residents in Biochemistry.
The role involves teaching Biochemistry to MBBS students, conducting practical and laboratory sessions, mentoring students, supporting academic and research activities, and contributing to the development of the department.
Candidates with strong academic credentials, teaching aptitude, laboratory experience, and an interest in medical education and research are encouraged to apply.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct lectures and teaching sessions in Biochemistry and related areas for MBBS students.
- Conduct practical classes, demonstrations, tutorials, and laboratory-based teaching.
- Teach biochemical principles and their application to normal human physiology and clinical medicine.
- Conduct practical sessions covering areas such as clinical biochemistry, metabolic pathways, enzymology, molecular biology, nutrition, acid-base balance, and biochemical investigations.
- Demonstrate and supervise laboratory techniques and the appropriate use of biochemical laboratory equipment.
- Guide and mentor undergraduate medical students in theoretical and practical aspects of Biochemistry.
- Conduct tutorials, seminars, small-group discussions, case-based learning, and other academic activities.
- Participate in MBBS curriculum planning, academic schedules, and departmental teaching programs.
- Conduct internal assessments, practical examinations, viva-voce, and other academic evaluations as assigned.
- Develop and maintain teaching materials, laboratory resources, practical manuals, and departmental academic records.
- Ensure appropriate functioning, quality control, and maintenance of teaching laboratories.
- Participate in departmental meetings, CME programs, workshops, conferences, and other academic activities.
- Participate in research projects, publications, presentations, and academic collaborations.
- Encourage and guide students in research-oriented academic activities.
- Maintain appropriate student attendance,
assessment records, laboratory records, and departmental documentation.
- Contribute to the development and improvement of the Biochemistry Department and its teaching methodologies.
- Collaborate with pre-clinical, para-clinical, and clinical departments for integrated medical education.
- Support interdisciplinary academic and research activities involving clinical departments and laboratory sciences.
- Ensure compliance with applicable NMC guidelines, university regulations, institutional policies, laboratory standards, and academic requirements.
Eligibility:
Qualification:
- MBBS/Msc/Phd from a recognized medical institution.
- MD/Msc/Phd in Biochemistry from a recognized institution for faculty positions.
- Postgraduate qualification in Biochemistry for Senior Resident positions, as applicable.
Experience:
- Experience as per applicable NMC norms for Professor, Associate Professor, and Assistant Professor positions.
- Postgraduate candidates fulfilling the applicable eligibility criteria may be considered for Senior Resident positions.
Preferred Skills:
- Strong knowledge of Medical Biochemistry and clinical biochemistry.
- Good teaching, presentation, and communication skills.
- Experience in undergraduate medical teaching.
- Strong practical and laboratory-based teaching skills.
- Knowledge of clinical biochemical investigations and laboratory techniques.
- Familiarity with laboratory quality control and standard operating procedures.
- Good student mentoring and academic coordination skills.
- Interest in medical education, research, publications, and academic activities.
- Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary medical education and healthcare environment.
