About The Role

We are seeking motivated and technically skilled Backend Developer Interns to join our team. As part of this role, you will be responsible for building the core database and API infrastructure that powers our animal profiles, medical records, and rescue request management system. This foundational work is critical to the overall functionality and success of our platform.

Since this is a founding-team position, you will have the autonomy to select your preferred technology stack, architecture, and tools, allowing you to shape the technical direction of the project. You will work independently on your tasks, making decisions end-to-end, with minimal supervision. Regular check-ins with the founder will provide updates on progress and priorities, but technical guidance will be limited, emphasizing your ownership and problem-solving abilities.

Qualifications The ideal candidate should possess a working knowledge of backend development frameworks such as Node.js, Django, or Flask. Basic experience with SQL databases or Firebase/Firestore is essential. Familiarity with REST API design principles is required to develop scalable and efficient interfaces.

Additionally, candidates should be proficient in version control workflows using Git and GitHub. While not mandatory,



experience with geolocation-based queries and exposure to cloud hosting platforms like AWS, GCP, Render, or Railway will be considered advantageous. We welcome applicants who are passionate about social impact, eager to learn, and ready to take ownership of their work in a startup workplace.

Responsibilities

- Design and implement a robust database schema tailored for a location-based public welfare application focused on street animal rescue.
- Develop RESTful APIs to facilitate core functionalities such as retrieving animal profiles, medical records, and submitting rescue requests.
- Implement location-based matching algorithms to connect users with appropriate rescue services efficiently.
- Document each module and feature developed to ensure clarity and maintainability of the codebase.
- Participate in regular meetings with the founder to discuss progress, set priorities, and align on project goals.
