We are looking for an experienced AWS RDS DBA / Cloud Database Engineer with robust hands-on experience managing production databases on AWS. The candidate should have expertise in AWS RDS, AWS DMS, database performance tuning, migration, monitoring, backup/recovery, and production troubleshooting.

Key Responsibilities

- Manage and maintain AWS RDS databases including MySQL, PostgreSQL, MariaDB, or SQL Server.
- Configure RDS instances, storage, parameter groups, subnet groups, security groups, and maintenance windows.
- Manage backups, snapshots, Point-in-Time Recovery (PITR), read replicas, and Multi-AZ configurations.
- Monitor database performance using CloudWatch, Performance Insights, Enhanced Monitoring, and database logs.
- Troubleshoot production issues including slow queries, high CPU/memory, connection issues, deadlocks, replication lag, and IOPS bottlenecks.
- Perform database performance tuning, query optimization, indexing, and schema optimization.
- Handle database migration and replication using AWS DMS, including Full Load, CDC, validation, and cutover.
- Plan and execute low-downtime database migrations and upgrades.
- Implement and manage RDS Proxy for connection pooling and high-traffic applications.
- Support RDS upgrades using Blue/Green Deployments or replica-based approaches.
- Implement database security using IAM, KMS, Secrets Manager, SSL/TLS, encryption, and least-privilege access.
- Work closely with Development and DevOps teams to improve database performance and application stability.
- Prepare database health reports, migration plans, upgrade runbooks, and RCA documentation.





Required Skills
- 3+ years of experience in Database Administration / Database Engineering.
- 1–2+ years of hands-on production experience with AWS RDS.
- Strong knowledge of MySQL, PostgreSQL, MariaDB, or SQL Server.
- Hands-on experience with AWS DMS and database migration.
- Experience with RDS backup, restore, replication, Multi-AZ, and monitoring.
- Strong knowledge of database performance tuning and troubleshooting.
- Experience with CloudWatch and Performance Insights.
- Good understanding of AWS networking concepts including VPC, subnet groups, and security groups.
- Knowledge of RDS Proxy and database connection pooling.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.

Good to Have
- AWS Certified Database – Specialty / AWS Solutions Architect certification.
- Experience with Amazon Aurora.
- Knowledge of Terraform / CloudFormation.
- Experience with AWS Secrets Manager, IAM, KMS, and audit logging.
- Knowledge of Linux, Shell scripting, PowerShell, or Python.
- Experience managing high-volume or enterprise production databases.

Qualification
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 3+ years of relevant database administration/engineering experience.
