Key Responsibilities
- Teaching &
- Instruction:
Design, update, and deliver engaging undergraduate and/or graduate courses in areas such as world literature, literary theory, composition, or specialized sub-fields.
- Student Assessment: Create comprehensive syllabi, assignments, and exams; evaluate and grade student performance objectively and constructively.
- Research &
- Scholarship: Maintain an active program of scholarly research, publish peer-reviewed articles, monographs, or literary works, and present findings at academic conferences.
- Mentorship &
- Advising: Hold regular office hours to mentor students, guide thesis or capstone projects, and advise on academic pathways and career development.
- Departmental &
- University Service: Participate actively in department meetings, faculty committees, curriculum development, and campus-wide events or outreach programs.
Required Qualifications &
- Skills
- Education: Ph.D. or terminal degree in English, Literature, Creative Writing, or a closely related discipline from an accredited institution. (Candidates near completion of their dissertation may be considered under specific terms).
- Experience: Demonstrated effectiveness in teaching at the college or university level.
- Research Potential: Evidence of—or a strong track record for—scholarly publication and active engagement in the academic community.
- Communication: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to foster an inclusive, critical, and collaborative classroom workplace.
