Assistant Manager – US GAAP Accounting & Finance
FinacPlus | Hyderabad, Telangana, India | Work in Hybrid mode
About the Role
FinacPlus is looking for an experienced Assistant Manager – US GAAP Accounting & Finance to join our accounting team supporting a leading U.S.-based financial services organization.
This is a hands-on accounting leadership role for a professional with approximately 4–5 years of experience in accounting, banking, lending, mortgage finance, financial services, or a related U.S.-focused environment.
The ideal candidate will have robust knowledge of US GAAP, General Ledger accounting, reconciliations, journal entries, financial reporting, and financial controls, together with experience working with ERP/accounting platforms such as Oracle NetSuite or similar systems.
You will also have responsibility for leading a team, reviewing work, resolving complex accounting issues, managing deliverables, and maintaining high standards of accuracy and control.
We are particularly interested in candidates who have worked with U.S. companies, U.S. banking/financial services organizations, lenders, mortgage companies, fintechs, or accounting service providers supporting U.S. clients.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Accounting & General Ledger
- Manage and review day-to-day US GAAP accounting activities, including journal entries, account analysis, transaction posting, and General Ledger maintenance.
- Review accounting transactions for accuracy, completeness, proper classification, and compliance with established accounting policies and controls.
- Prepare and review journal entries, accruals, reclassifications, adjustments, and other period-end accounting activities.
- Perform detailed balance sheet and General Ledger reconciliations, investigate variances, and drive discrepancies to resolution.
- Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities and ensure completion within defined timelines.
- Analyze financial information and identify unusual transactions, variances, or accounting exceptions requiring investigation.
Banking, Lending & Financial Services Accounting
- Support accounting operations associated with banking, lending, mortgage, financial services, or other financial products, depending on the client environment.
- Review and reconcile cash movements, wires, settlements, transfers, fees, interest-related transactions, and other financial transactions.
- Investigate transaction-level discrepancies and coordinate with operations or client teams for timely resolution.
- Develop a strong understanding of the underlying business processes so that accounting issues can be investigated beyond simply identifying reconciliation differences.
Reconciliations, Controls & Financial Reporting
- Ensure timely completion and review of bank, cash, GL, sub-ledger, and other account reconciliations.
- Monitor outstanding reconciling items and ensure appropriate documentation and resolution.
- Maintain accurate supporting schedules and audit-ready accounting documentation.
- Support preparation and review of financial statements, management reports, variance analysis, and other financial reporting requirements.
- Follow established internal controls and identify opportunities to strengthen accounting processes and reduce financial risk.
ERP & Accounting Systems
- Work extensively with Oracle NetSuite or comparable ERP/accounting platforms.
- Use ERP systems to review transactions, perform account analysis, post or review journal entries, reconcile accounts, and support financial close.
- Quickly understand client-specific accounting systems, workflows, chart of accounts, and reporting structures.
- Experience with other accounting platforms such as Sage Intacct, Yardi, QuickBooks Enterprise, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar systems will be an advantage.
Team Leadership & People Management
- Lead a team of accounting professionals responsible for day-to-day financial operations.
- Review team deliverables for accuracy, completeness, quality, and adherence to timelines.
- Allocate work, monitor productivity and turnaround time, and ensure critical activities are completed on schedule.
- Mentor team members and provide technical guidance on accounting, reconciliations, journal entries, and problem resolution.
- Conduct knowledge sharing and support onboarding and process training for new team members.
- Handle escalations and complex accounting issues and provide appropriate direction to the team.
- Build a culture of ownership, accountability, quality, and continuous improvement.
Process Improvement & Client Coordination
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting workflows, eliminate recurring errors, strengthen controls, and increase operational efficiency.
- Investigate the root cause of recurring reconciliation or accounting issues rather than relying on manual corrections.
- Work closely with U.S.-based stakeholders to understand requirements, resolve accounting issues, and meet reporting deadlines.
- Communicate accounting matters clearly and professionally with internal teams and client stakeholders.
Qualifications & Experience
- 4–5 years of relevant professional experience in accounting, finance, banking, lending, mortgage finance, financial services, fintech, or a related environment.
- Strong practical understanding of US GAAP and corporate accounting principles.
- Hands-on experience with:
- General Ledger accounting
- Journal entries
- Bank and balance sheet reconciliations
- Month-end close
- Account analysis
- Financial reporting
- Variance analysis
- Internal financial controls
- Prior experience working with U.S. companies or supporting U.S. accounting operations is strongly preferred.
- Experience in a U.S. bank, lender, mortgage company, financial institution, fintech, financial services company, or U.S.-focused accounting/outsourcing environment is highly desirable.
- Oracle NetSuite or comparable ERP/accounting package experience preferred.
- Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, including reconciliations, financial analysis, lookup functions, pivot tables, and working with large financial datasets.
- Prior team leadership / people management experience is required.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
What Makes You a Strong Fit
You are not simply an accounting processor. You understand why transactions are recorded, how they flow through the General Ledger, how they affect financial statements, and how to investigate when something does not reconcile.
You have experience working in a U.S.-focused accounting or financial services environment, understand the expectations around US GAAP, controls, documentation, and deadlines, and can confidently work with U.S. stakeholders.
You are comfortable leading people while remaining hands-on technically. You can review your team's work, identify errors, challenge unusual accounting treatments, coach team members, and personally take ownership of complex issues when required.
You are analytical, organized, proactive, and comfortable working in a deadline-driven environment where accuracy is critical.
Why Join FinacPlus?
- Work with U.S.-based financial services organizations and gain meaningful international exposure.
- Develop expertise in US GAAP, financial accounting, banking/lending operations, and financial controls.
- Take on a combination of technical accounting and people leadership responsibilities.

- Be part of a collaborative, ownership-driven organization with opportunities for professional growth.
- Excellent Place to Work® Certified™ workplace focused on employee development and career progression.
