Roles & Responsibilities

Implement company policies, objectives, programs & procedures and assess its effectiveness periodically. Assist project manager and region safety incharge to implement preventive safety management and monitoring system to prevent incidents, occupational diseases and ensure safe work environment. Audit/ review implementation of site safety plan, site logistics plan and contractual requirements.

Ensure adequate safety infrastructure are established and maintain in best and ready to use condition such as first aid, safety induction & training, emergency medical assistance, sanitation, labour camp, crèche, access controls etc. Ensure contractors and PMC safety resources are used effectively and to the optimum extend. Ensure & audit legal compliance such as BOCW Act, Labour laws & environmental and other relevant statutory regulations and quarterly review of Legal Register.

- Ensure & periodically review implementation of contractual conditions and company safety guidelines and advice project managers for improvements.
- Prepare & implement monthly activity schedule for inspection, audit, training, and campaign in tandem with contractor’s safety plan & implement and assess periodically & improve.
- Assist project managers to set-up project safety committee, participate and advice on timely compliances.
- Plant & machines- Periodic inventory review, inspection & preventive maintenance schedule of earth moving vehicles, electrical tools & installations and testing of lifting tools & tackles and related statutory compliances.
- Assess & communicate to contractors on availability of standard quality of PPE, adequacy quantity, buffer stock and its effective usage at site.
- Plan and conduct monthly safety audits of sites as directed by region safety incharge and project managers and submit feedback with improvement plan.




- Prepare/ review risk assessments and method statements of routine and non-routine construction activities & equipment’s conducted by contractors/ PMC. As required conduct HIRA of high risk activities and advice proactive mitigation plan.
- Ensure emergency planning, fire preventive measures, fire fighting adequacy & training.
- Review/ ensure housekeeping, health & hygiene parameters inside & perimeter of site and at labour camp and advice PM on required improvements.
- Record & report incidents to PM &
- Region safety incharge immediately on phone, followed by detail report within 8 hours.
- Investigate all incidents (dangerous occurrences, fires, reportable & medical treatment incidents) within 48 hrs and submit CAPA report to project managers and safety incharge.
- Conduct periodic suitable safety training & refresher for project staff and competitive safety campaigns. .
- Ensure safety & health awareness and motivational campaign with participation of all staff & associates.
- Check safety of all temporary structures of contractors & associates and ensure procedural approval by PMC &
- PM-GPL.
- Ensure periodic check on work environmental aspects like illumination, noise pollution, dust & fumes nuisance etc, in offices, project, labour camp etc.
- Ensure & check contractors has provided & maintaining required welfare and sanitation facilities at project and labour camp as per BOCW Act &
- Contract Labour Act.
- Register customer complaints/ feedback and take corrective actions.
- Periodic feedback to PM &
- Region safety incharge on compliances, critical deviations, preventive measures, performance measurement of contractors and PMC program for continual improvement.
- Any other responsibilities assigned by Project Manager and Region Safety Incharge from time to time and as laid down in Schedule VIII of BOCW Central Rules. Qualification &

Experience of AM-Safety, Health &

- Env: A person shall not be eligible for appointment as a Safety Officer unless he fulfill following criteria. 1.

Basic qualification: Degree or diploma in engineering preferably civil, mechanical or Science Graduate 2. 3. 4.

Professional qualifications :



Advanced Diploma in Industrial Safety; min one year duration from State Board of Technical Exam, recognized under State Factories Rules / BOCW Central Rules or Diploma in Construction Safety Management from NICMAR.
