Production Support / Application Maintenance Engineer

Role Overview

Experienced candidate with 5+ years of hands on Production Support / Application Maintenance experience supporting business critical enterprise applications in production environments.

The role involves application monitoring, incident resolution, troubleshooting, production changes, root cause analysis, and ongoing improvements to application stability and reliability.

Experience: 5+ YrsWork Schedule: Standard general shiftOn Call Support: 12 hour on call rotation approximately once every two months

Key Responsibilities

. Provide day to day production support and application maintenance for business critical applications.

. Monitor application health, availability, performance, batch processes, and production alerts.

. Troubleshoot production issues using application logs, system metrics, database queries, and monitoring tools.

. Participate in P1/P2 incident response, including triage, troubleshooting, escalation, and service restoration.

. Perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for recurring and high impact production issues and support implementation of permanent fixes.

. Support production deployments, releases, patches, configuration changes, and post deployment validation.

. Support batch and ETL job monitoring, troubleshooting, restart, and recovery activities.

. Work with application development, infrastructure, database, middleware, network, and other support teams to resolve production issues.

. Maintain and improve monitoring dashboards and alerts for proactive issue identification.

. Support application performance, availability, resiliency, disaster recovery, and continuity activities.

. Create and maintain runbooks, troubleshooting guides, operational procedures, and knowledge documentation.

. Identify opportunities for automation and continuous improvement to reduce recurring incidents and manual support activities.

. Follow established incidents, problems, change, release, security, and operational processes.





Required Technical Skills

Hands on experience with several of the following:

. Linux/Unix, Java/Java based applications, and application log analysis/troubleshooting.

. Microservices and distributed applications, including performance troubleshooting and production issue resolution.

. Databases & Middleware: Oracle and/or MongoDB; Tomcat and/or WebSphere.

. Production Operations: Monitoring and alerting tools, batch/ETL monitoring and recovery, and application deployment/release support.

. IT Service Management: Incident, problem, and change management.

. Reporting & Documentation: Tableau, Confluence, or comparable tools.

Experience & Qualifications

. 5+ years of hands on experience in Production Support, Application Support, or Application Maintenance.

. Experience supporting enterprise applications in production environments.

. Strong troubleshooting skills across applications, databases, middleware, and related infrastructure.

. Experience handling production incidents and working with multiple technical teams to restore services.

. Experience with root cause analysis and implementation of corrective and preventive actions.

. Experience supporting production releases and CR activities.

. Ability to independently troubleshoot and resolve production issues and escalate when required.

. Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
