This role exists to translate real customer questions and applied electronics knowledge into accurate, reusable technical content that improves customer success at scale.
As an Applications Engineer, you will combine technical analysis and content creation to deliver practical guidance on electronic components and their use. You will identify common questions, develop answers grounded in real-world experience, and publish content through DigiKey’s Tech Forum and related channels to expand accessible technical knowledge.
This role is critical to demonstrating DigiKey’s technical competency, improving customer confidence in product selection, and scaling support through high-quality, reusable answers aligned to real applications.
Major Responsibilities and Time Allocation
Technical Content Development & Knowledge Scaling (≈50–55%)
- Create explicit, accurate technical content including forum posts, tutorials, application guidance, and Q&A; responses.
- Translate customer inquiries into reusable, searchable technical knowledge.
- Ensure content reflects practical application, including tradeoffs and limitations.
- Maintain and update previously published content.
- Identify gaps in knowledge coverage and proactively develop content.
Tech Forum Platform Ownership & Moderation (≈20–25%)
- Own day-to-day operation and upkeep of DigiKey’s Tech Forum.
- Moderate discussions to ensure technical accuracy and clarity.
- Ensure responses create reusable knowledge.
- Improve forum structure and usability.
- Respond to technical questions within the Tech Forum ensuring clarity and accuracy.
- Interpret datasheets and specifications for correct usage.
- Communicate technical concepts clearly.
- Identify recurring questions to inform content priorities.
Regional & Cross-Functional Support (≈5–10%)
- Support regional marketing initiatives with technical content.
- Assist in responding to customer technical inquiries from other regions (e.g., U.S.) during periods of high demand.
How the Work Is Performed Work is performed through independent technical analysis and structured content development. Activities include reviewing questions, creating content, and managing forum discussions. Outputs must be accurate, practical, and reusable.
Required Knowledge and Skills
- Foundational electronics knowledge and component understanding.

Education / Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering or related field.
- Typically 3 to 5 years relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience creating technical content.
- Familiarity with electronics design or troubleshooting.
- Experience supporting customers or applications.
- Familiarity with online technical communities.
- Exposure to electronics distribution.
