Finance Manager (Only CAs and F&B; industry) Location: Alappuzha (Alleppey), Kerala - India
Department: Finance & Accounts
Reporting to: Management
Direct Reports: Yes Job Purpose

The Finance Manager will be responsible for managing the complete Finance & Accounts function of the organisation. The role will ensure accurate financial reporting, effective internal controls, statutory compliance, taxation, cash-flow management, budgeting, audit coordination, and timely management reporting.

The Finance Manager will work closely with senior management to provide financial insights, control costs, improve profitability, manage working capital, and support informed business decisions.

Key Responsibilities Financial Accounting and Reporting

- Manage day-to-day Finance & Accounts operations.

- Ensure accurate and timely accounting of sales, purchases, expenses, receipts, payments, assets, liabilities, and other financial transactions.

- Review the General Ledger, Trial Balance, Profit & Loss Account, and Balance Sheet.

- Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual book closures.

- Ensure accurate accounting of provisions, accruals, prepaid expenses, depreciation, and year-end adjustments.

- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.

- Ensure compliance with applicable Indian Accounting Standards, including Ind AS, and internal accounting policies.

- Maintain accurate, complete, and audit-ready books of accounts.

- Review and reconcile bank, vendor, customer, inter-company, and statutory balances.

Management Reporting and MIS
- Prepare and present monthly MIS reports to management.

- Prepare and review:

- Profit and Loss Statements.

- Balance Sheets.

- Cash Flow Statements.

- Working Capital Reports.

- Receivables and Payables Ageing Reports.

- Budget versus Actual Analysis.

- Sales and Gross Margin Analysis.

- Expense Analysis.

- Branch or business-unit profitability reports.

- Provide financial analysis, insights, and recommendations to management.

- Identify financial trends, variances, risks, and improvement opportunities.

- Develop dashboards and reports to support business decisions.

Budgeting and Financial Planning
- Lead the annual budgeting and forecasting process.

- Coordinate with various departments for budget preparation.

- Monitor actual performance against approved budgets.

- Conduct monthly variance analysis and recommend corrective actions.

- Prepare financial projections and business forecasts.

- Support management in evaluating new business initiatives, investments, and expansion plans.

Cash Flow and Treasury Management
- Monitor the organisation's daily cash position and overall liquidity.

- Prepare and maintain short-term and long-term cash-flow forecasts.

- Ensure sufficient funds are available for operational requirements.

- Monitor customer collections and payment schedules.

- Review and control vendor payments.

- Manage banking relationships and coordinate with banks on finance-related matters.





- Monitor working capital and identify opportunities for improvement.

- Ensure timely bank reconciliations and resolution of outstanding items.

Accounts Receivable and Payable
- Oversee customer receivables and collection activities.

- Monitor customer ageing and ensure timely follow-up on overdue balances.

- Review credit limits, customer outstanding balances, and payment trends.

- Oversee vendor payments and payable ageing.

- Ensure proper vendor reconciliation before releasing payments.

- Review customer, supplier, and inter-company reconciliations.

- Identify and reduce overdue receivables and unnecessary working-capital blockage.

GST and Tax Compliance
- Ensure timely and complete compliance with applicable GST, TDS, Income Tax, and other statutory requirements.

- Review GST returns, reconciliations, and tax payments.

- Ensure proper reconciliation of GST input tax credit.

- Review TDS deductions, payments, returns, and certificates.

- Coordinate the preparation of Income Tax returns and responses to tax assessments.

- Monitor advance tax and other direct-tax obligations.

- Coordinate with external tax consultants and advisors.

- Review tax notices and ensure timely responses.

- Keep management informed about significant changes in tax and financial regulations.

Audit Management
- Coordinate with statutory, internal, and tax auditors.

- Prepare audit schedules, supporting documents, and reconciliations.

- Ensure timely completion of statutory and internal audits.

- Review audit observations and implement corrective actions.

- Maintain proper documentation and audit trails.

- Coordinate with auditors, consultants, and management to resolve audit queries.

Internal Controls and Process Improvement
- Develop, implement, and monitor effective financial controls.

- Establish finance policies, procedures, and standard operating procedures.

- Review authorisation and approval processes for purchases, expenses, and payments.

- Identify financial risks, control weaknesses, process gaps, and potential leakages.

- Implement measures to reduce errors, fraud risks, and financial losses.

- Improve finance and accounting processes through automation and technology.

- Ensure appropriate segregation of duties within the Finance function.

Cost Control and Profitability
- Monitor operational and administrative expenses.

- Analyse product, department, branch, and business-unit profitability.

- Identify cost-saving and efficiency-improvement opportunities.

- Monitor wastage, overheads, and other controllable costs.

- Support management in pricing and margin-related decisions.





- Analyse gross margin and contribution margin performance.

- Recommend corrective actions where profitability falls below target.

Inventory and Stock Accounting
- Monitor inventory accounting and valuation.

- Coordinate with Operations, Production, and Stores teams for stock reconciliation.

- Review stock adjustments, wastage, damages, and inventory variances.

- Support periodic physical stock verification.

- Investigate significant stock discrepancies.

- Ensure proper accounting of inventory movements.

Payroll and Statutory Payments
- Review payroll accounting and salary-related entries.

- Ensure correct accounting of employee benefits and statutory deductions.

- Coordinate with HR on payroll-related finance matters.

- Monitor PF, ESI, Professional Tax, TDS, and other applicable statutory obligations.

- Ensure timely payment and reconciliation of statutory liabilities.

Team Management
- Lead and supervise the Finance & Accounts team.

- Allocate responsibilities and monitor deliverables.

- Review the team's accounting, reporting, and reconciliation work.

- Train, mentor, and develop team members.

- Establish clear deadlines and performance standards.

- Ensure timely completion of monthly closing, MIS, and statutory requirements.

- Promote accuracy, accountability, and process discipline within the team.

Required Experience
- 5 8 years of post-qualification experience in Finance & Accounts.

- Experience in FMCG, Food & Beverage, Bakery, Hospitality, or Retail is preferred.

- Strong practical experience in accounting, taxation, financial reporting, and audit.

- Strong knowledge of Indian taxation and statutory compliance.

- Experience managing and developing a Finance & Accounts team.

- Proven experience in financial analysis, cash-flow management, working capital, cost control, and profitability analysis.

- Strong analytical, leadership, problem-solving, communication, and decision-making skills.

- Proficiency in both spoken and written English.

Qualification and Technical Skills
- Qualified Chartered Accountant from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India.

- Strong knowledge of Ind AS, GST, TDS, Income Tax, statutory compliance, audit, budgeting, and financial reporting.

- Proficiency in MS Excel and accounting or ERP software such as Tally, SAP, Oracle, Zoho Books, or similar systems.

- Solid understanding of financial controls, audit processes, reconciliations, and month-end closing.

- Ability to provide commercially relevant financial insights and support management decision-making.

The ideal candidate will be a qualified and hands-on finance professional with strong expertise in accounting, taxation, reporting, compliance, treasury, and team management. The candidate should be comfortable working closely with senior management, improving financial processes, and supporting business growth through accurate analysis and effective financial control.
