About the Role

ORCHIDS The International School is seeking a creative, passionate, and student-focused Visual Art Teacher who can inspire students to explore their imagination, develop artistic skills, and express themselves confidently through visual arts.

The ideal candidate will have solid knowledge of various art forms and techniques, an understanding of child-centered teaching practices, and the ability to create engaging, hands-on learning experiences for students across different age groups.

Key Responsibilities

- Plan and deliver engaging, age-appropriate Visual Art lessons based on the school's curriculum and learning objectives.
- Teach students a range of drawing, painting, sketching, craft, sculpture, mixed media, and other visual art techniques.
- Introduce students to different artists, art movements, styles, cultures, and artistic traditions.
- Encourage students to experiment with different materials, mediums, techniques, and creative processes.
- Develop students' observation, imagination, creativity, aesthetic appreciation, and visual communication skills.
- Create an inclusive and encouraging classroom environment where students feel comfortable expressing their ideas and individuality.
- Prepare lesson plans, demonstrations, worksheets, projects, and other learning resources.
- Organize individual and group art projects that encourage collaboration and creative problem-solving.
- Assess students' artistic development and provide constructive feedback.
- Maintain portfolios or appropriate records of students' artwork and progress.
- Identify and nurture students with particular artistic interests or abilities.
- Prepare and mentor students for art exhibitions, competitions, inter-school events,



cultural programs, and other creative showcases.
- Curate and display student artwork across the school campus and during school events.
- Collaborate with other teachers to integrate visual arts into interdisciplinary projects and classroom learning.
- Support school celebrations, annual functions, exhibitions, assemblies, and special events through creative artwork, displays, backdrops, installations, and related activities.
- Maintain and responsibly manage art materials, equipment, and studio/classroom resources.
- Ensure appropriate safety practices while students use art materials and tools.
- Stay updated with contemporary art practices, educational approaches, and innovative art techniques.
- Participate in staff meetings, professional development programs, parent interactions, school events, and other assigned responsibilities.
- Follow school policies, child-safety standards, and institutional guidelines.

Areas of Expertise The candidate should ideally have experience with several of the following:
- Drawing and sketching
- Painting and colour theory
- Watercolour, acrylic, and other painting mediums
- Pencil, charcoal, and ink techniques
- Craft and paper art
- Clay modelling and basic sculpture
- Collage and mixed-media art
- Printmaking
- Indian and global art traditions
- Contemporary and experimental art
- Art appreciation and art history
- Digital art and basic graphic design will be an added advantage

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Fine Arts, Visual Arts, Applied Arts, Art Education, or a related field.
- Formal teacher training/teaching qualification will be an advantage.
- Strong practical knowledge of visual arts and creative techniques.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong classroom management and student engagement abilities.
- A child-centric, patient, encouraging, and inclusive approach to teaching.
