Position: Vice President - Urban Planning

Location: GIFT City, Gandhinagar

Reporting: Chief Planning Officer

Engagement Type: Full time Contractual Appointment

Tenure: Initial term of 3 (three) years, extendable based on performance and organizational requirements

Compensation: Commensurate with qualifications and experience in the pay-scale of Rs.1,44,200-2,18,200 as per 7th CPC.

Role Objective The Company intends to appoint an experienced urban planning professional to head the Urban Planning function, with strong expertise in integrated planning, infrastructure development, sustainability, and smart city frameworks.

The incumbent shall be responsible for driving planning initiatives and supporting the Companys vision of developing GIFT City as a globally competitive financial and smart urban ecosystem, aligned with international best practices and regulatory frameworks benchmarked against leading hubs like London, Singapore and Hong Kong.

Qualifications

- Masters / PhD in any of the following disciplines:
- Urban Planning / City & Regional Planning / Infrastructure Planning
- Degrees from globally reputed institutions shall be preferred

Experience

- Minimum 19 years of relevant experience in urban development and master planning
- Exposure to integrated master planning, infrastructure coordination, and regulatory frameworks.
- Experience in execution of large-scale urban infrastructure / new townships / financial districts / smart city projects.
- Preferable experience across multiple geographies (Asia, Middle East, Europe, etc.)
- Experience of working with government bodies, consultants, and multi-stakeholder environments. (preferred)

Key Roles & Responsibilities 1. Integrated Master Planning

- Lead preparation and implementation of integrated master plans, including land use, mobility, and infrastructure alignment.
- Support adoption and execution of Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) principles.




- Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders for planning approvals and execution.

2. Smart & Digital City Initiatives

- Support development and implementation of smart city components, including digital infrastructure and its platforms.
- Facilitate integration of data-driven planning and governance tools.
- Assist in benchmarking initiatives against leading smart cities.

3. Sustainability & ESG Integration

- Drive implementation of sustainable and climate-resilient planning practices.
- Support adoption of green building standards and certifications (LEED, WELL, etc.).
- Ensure integration of ESG considerations in urban development projects.

4. Infrastructure & Mobility Planning

- Coordinate planning of multi-modal transport systems and last-mile connectivity.
- Support development of utility infrastructure including water, power, waste management, and cooling systems.
- Ensure timely execution and integration of infrastructure projects.

5. Coordination & Stakeholder Management

- Liaise with government authorities, regulatory bodies, consultants, and developers.
- Support senior management in policy inputs and planning decisions.
- Participate in technical reviews, project monitoring, and stakeholder consultations

Key Deliverables

- Preparation and execution of master planning documents and development frameworks
- Timely coordination and implementation of planning and infrastructure projects.
- Reports, technical notes, and inputs for management decision-making.
- Compliance with applicable planning norms, sustainability standards, and regulatory requirements.
