The Trade Compliance Services Manager at Haleon plays a crucial role in ensuring global adherence to customs and trade regulations, minimizing risks such as fines, penalties, and supply chain disruptions. This position is part of the Trade Compliance team and reports to the Trade Compliance Lead. The role is vital for maintaining accurate customs classification data and ensuring compliance with Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) and country of origin determinations. The position involves a substantial understanding of international trade concepts and requires significant interaction with internal teams such as technology, procurement, supply chain, regulatory as well as external parties. Additionally, the role includes supporting initiatives to integrate technology solutions into the daily processes of trade compliance, enhancing efficiency and effectiveness.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing a team of Data FTA Advisors as well as third-party managed service provider.
- Ensuring Review and validate HS classifications and Country of Origin (COO) determinations to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Oversee FTA compliance, ensuring proper documentation and eligibility for trade agreements.
- Collaborate with Business Process Owner and Technology Teams to automate and improve HS, COO, and FTA processes.
- Support initiatives to integrate advanced technology solutions into compliance workflows.
- Develop training materials and conduct sessions on HS, COO, and FTA processes and tools.
- Maintain documentation and generate reports to monitor compliance performance and improvements.
- Support the Trade Compliance Center of Excellence with advisory queries and projects.
Qualifications and skills
Essential
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in trade compliance.
- Strong knowledge of the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS), free trade agreements, non-preferential country of origin determinations and international trade regulations.
- Attention to detail, analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage a team and third party service providers.
- Fluency in English (written and verbal).
Preferred
- Customs related qualification (e.g., International Trade Degree, Certified Customs Specialist, Licensed Customs Broker).
- Experience with SAP, PowerBI and Global Trade Management systems.
- Previous line Management experience.
- Robust communication and interpersonal skills.
