Role Description The Testing and Commissioning Engineer will be responsible for planning, executing, and documenting testing and commissioning activities for electrical systems and equipment, including LT/HT switchgears, transformers, motors, cables, substations, and associated control systems. Day-to-day tasks include reviewing technical drawings and specifications, preparing test procedures, performing inspections, conducting functional and performance tests, and ensuring compliance with relevant standards and safety regulations.

The role involves diagnosing and resolving technical issues in office, coordinating with project teams and clients, and preparing clear reports and documentation of test results and commissioning outcomes. This is a full-time, on-site role based in Chennai, requiring regular interaction with field teams, contractors,



and client representatives to ensure timely and successful project handover.

Qualifications

- Strong knowledge of electrical power systems, including LT/HT switchgears, transformers, motors, cables, substations, VFDs, bus ducts, and generators, with the ability to interpret single-line diagrams and electrical schematics.
- Experience in testing and commissioning activities, such as insulation resistance tests, relay testing, protection coordination checks, functional tests, and performance verification of electrical equipment.
- Proficiency in using electrical testing instruments and tools (e.g., multimeters, insulation testers, relay test kits, power analyzers), with a solid understanding of relevant standards and codes (such as IEC/IS standards).
- Strong focus on safety practices, risk assessment, and adherence to site safety protocols, with the ability to identify and mitigate hazards during installation, testing, and commissioning work.
- Effective project execution skills, including planning, time management, coordination with multidisciplinary teams, and clear reporting and documentation of test results and commissioning activities.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with clients, contractors, and internal stakeholders, and to explain technical findings in an understandable manner.
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline, with relevant industry experience in testing, commissioning, or electrical projects.
- Ability to work on-site in Chennai, handle field assignments, and adapt to dynamic project schedules;
