Test Analyst Treasury/Risk Data & Analytics

Location-Chennai The Role Responsibilities

Strategy & Solution Validation

- Partner with Business Analysts and Data Engineers to understand data sourcing, modelling, and transformation logic across Treasury, Risk, and P&L; reporting domains.
- Validate that analytical and reporting solutions meet business and regulatory requirements covering Treasury Securities, Bonds, Equity, Assets & Liabilities, and P&L; data.
- Review data flows, transformation logic, and calculations for Market Risk Limits/Utilization, RWA, Initial Margin (IM) Posting, and Cashflow Hedge MI.
- Contribute to test strategy, test planning, and execution of data-centric testing across ingestion, transformation, aggregation, and reporting layers.

Business Domain Understanding

- Strong understanding of data domains related to Treasury products (Securities, Bonds, Equity) and associated attributes such as pricing, yield curves, and static data.
- Familiar with risk and regulatory reporting concepts including VaR, Stress Testing, RWA, IM, and Hedge Effectiveness metrics — to perform meaningful data validation.
- Working knowledge of financial accounting and P&L; data to ensure end-to-end reconciliation accuracy between source and analytical/reporting systems.

Execution & Delivery

- Design, prepare, and execute test cases, data validation scripts, and reconciliation checks for analytics and reporting initiatives.
- Validate data transformations and aggregation logic between upstream source systems and the target analytical data marts or dashboards.
- Develop and maintain detailed test plans, test evidence, defect logs, and traceability matrices linking requirements to test results.
- Perform end-to-end data testing including ingestion, transformation, business rules, and reporting validation.
- Support User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and coordinate with business stakeholders to validate data accuracy and completeness.
- Collaborate with Data Engineers to troubleshoot data issues and verify defect resolutions.

Data Quality & Governance





- Implement and validate data quality rules for critical data elements, ensuring completeness, consistency, and accuracy.
- Validate data lineage, ensuring transparency of data flow from source to reporting layer.
- Participate in reviews to confirm compliance with the firm’s data governance standards and audit requirements.
- Support periodic data reconciliations to ensure accuracy in regulatory and management information (MI) reports.

People & Collaboration

- Work closely with Business Analysts, Data Engineers, Architects, and Risk/Finance users to ensure consistent understanding of data and testing objectives.
- Provide input on test automation opportunities and reusable data validation frameworks.
- Share testing best practices and contribute to continuous improvement in data testing and validation processes.

Risk Management & Control

- Ensure all data testing deliverables adhere to control and audit standards.
- Identify potential data or reporting risks during testing and escalate proactively.
- Support post-implementation reviews to ensure production data integrity for RWA, Market Risk, and MI reports.

Preferred Skills & Experience

- 7+ years of experience in data validation, ETL testing, or analytics testing within financial services or banking.
- Strong SQL skills for data profiling, comparison, and reconciliation.
- Experience with data warehouse / data lake environments and BI tools (e.g., SAC, Datasphere, HanaCloud, Hive).
- Familiarity with Treasury, Risk, and Finance data domains.
- Knowledge of data quality tools or test automation frameworks is a plus.

Our Ideal Candidate

- 7+ years of experience in data testing, validation, or ETL testing within financial services, preferably across Treasury, Market Risk, or Finance Technology domains.
- Mandatory: Robust SQL proficiency for data profiling, reconciliation, and validation.
- Mandatory: Proven experience designing and executing data-centric test cases and validation scripts.
- Exposure to data models, data mapping, and data flow diagrams for financial product data.
- Familiarity with financial instruments including Treasury Securities, Bonds, Equities, and derivatives (relevant to IM and Hedge Accounting).
- Understanding of data requirements for at least two of the following areas:

o Market Risk Limits & Utilization o RWA calculations o Initial Margin (IM) Posting o P&L; / Balance Sheet (Assets & Liabilities) reporting
- Experience with large-scale data platforms (e.g., Data Lake, Hive, SAP HANA) and ETL/ELT pipelines.
- Hands-on experience with analytics and reporting tools (e.g., Dataiku, Datasphere, SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC)).
- Knowledge of data governance concepts, including data lineage, metadata management, and data quality frameworks.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate complex data concepts to both business users and technical teams.
- Experience working in an Agile data delivery environment.
