KEY PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES

- Serve as the single point of accountability for all SAP Basis operations across ECC and S/4HANA
n
- Ensure high availability, stability, and performance of SAP systems and databases
n
- Independently manage and execute all transports, system changes, and technical operations
n
- Minimize production issues through proactive monitoring and root cause resolution
n
- Successfully support S/4HANA transformation and dual landscape operations (ECC + S/4)
n
- Maintain full ownership of system governance, documentation, and audit readiness
n

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

n

n

End-to-End SAP Basis Ownership

n

n
- Own and execute all SAP Basis activities across SAP ECC, SAP S/4HANA, and related databases
n
- Operate as a self-sufficient Basis expert with minimal reliance on internal resources
n
- Serve as the primary technical authority for all SAP platform operations
n

n

n

SAP System Administration & Operations

n

n
- Administer SAP systems including:
n
- Application servers and instances
n
- Client management and system configurations
n
- Background job scheduling and management
n
- Ensure consistent system performance, uptime, and reliability across all environments
n

n

n

Transport & Change Management (Full Ownership)

n

n
- Independently manage entire transport lifecycle across DEV, QA, and PROD
n
- Ensure proper sequencing, dependency management, and release execution
n
- Plan and execute cutover activities for releases, patches, and emergency fixes
n
- Enforce strict change control and governance standards
n

n

n

Monitoring, Troubleshooting & Incident Management

n

n
- Perform continuous system monitoring (performance, jobs, dumps, locks, database health)
n
- Diagnoses and resolve:
n
- System dumps (ST22)
n
- Work process issues (SM50/SM66)
n




- Performance bottlenecks (ST03, DB tools)
n
- Act as the first and primary responder for all SAP Basis-related incidents
n
- Lead root cause analysis and implement permanent fixes
n

n

SAP Landscape Lifecycle Management

n

n
- Plan and execute:
n
- SAP upgrades (ECC enhancement packs, S/4HANA upgrades)
n
- Kernel upgrades and patching
n
- SAP Notes and support package implementation
n
- Manage system refreshes, client copies, and environment synchronization
n
- Support S/4HANA migration and ongoing dual-system operations
n

n

n

Database & HANA Administration

n

n
- Manage and monitor all associated databases, including SAP HANA and any underlying DB platforms
n
- Perform database-level activities:
n
- Performance monitoring
n
- Backup coordination and recovery support
n
- Capacity planning and optimization
n
- Ensure database stability aligned with SAP application performance
n

n

n

Integration & Interface Stability

n

n
- Monitor and support technical connectivity across:
n
- IDocs, RFCs, APIs, and middleware integrations
n
- Troubleshoot failures impacting integrations with external platforms (e.g., eCommerce, Salesforce, payment systems)
n
- Ensure stable communication between SAP and connected systems
n

n

n

Disaster Recovery & System Resilience

n

n
- Own and execute backup and recovery procedures
n
- Support and validate disaster recovery readiness
n
- Participate in DR testing and ensure system recoverability
n

n

n





Vendor Coordination (Escalation-Only Model)

n

n
- Engage external Basis vendors only for emergencies or specialized support
n
- Retain full ownership of issue identification, coordination, and resolution
n
- Ensure vendor deliverables meet internal standards and timelines
n

n

n

On-Call & Emergency Support

n

n
- Participate in on-call rotation to support:
n
- Urgent patching activities
n
- Production outages and critical incidents
n
- System recovery and emergency fixes
n
- Provide after-hours and weekend support when required to ensure business continuity
n

n

n

Continuous Improvement

n

n
- Identify opportunities to improve automation, monitoring, and system performance
n
- Standardize and streamline Basis processes across ECC and S/4HANA
n
- Reduce operational risk through proactive system management
n

n

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

n

n

Required Qualifications

n

n
- 7–12 years of hands-on SAP Basis experience
n
- Proven experience as a lead or sole Basis administrator responsible for full system ownership
n
- Solid expertise supporting SAP ECC and SAP S/4HANA environments
n
- Mandatory experience with SAP HANA and underlying databases
n
- Deep experience with:
n
- Transport management
n
- System monitoring and troubleshooting
n
- SAP upgrades, patching, and lifecycle management
n
- Experience supporting production environments with on-call responsibilities
n

n

n

Preferred Qualifications

n

n
- Experience supporting S/4HANA conversions or brownfield/greenfield implementations
n
- Exposure to SAP on cloud infrastructure (Azure, AWS, RISE with SAP)
n
- Familiarity with integration environments (CPI, middleware, APIs)
n
- Experience operating in lean teams with high ownership expectations
n
