We are looking for a Lead Administrator L1 with deep expertise in Dell NetWorker and enterprise backup infrastructure to join our Run team as an L2 resource. This is a contract engagement based in Mumbai, supporting day-to-day BAU operations, incident management, and project delivery across a complex, multi-data-centre backup environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Take up technical tasks in ITSM queues to resolve BAU requests, project requests, and incidents.
- Plan, prepare, and execute Change technical tasks in ITSM queues.
- Respond to and resolve alerts from the monitoring management system.
- Manage, maintain, and operate data backup solutions including VTL, PTL, tape media, and encryption devices.
- Manage and operate data backup replication between Data Centers.
- Configure and operate backup software, client agents, backup jobs, and tape libraries for new backup requirements.
- Perform daily monitoring and reporting of backup jobs; troubleshoot and resolve backup failures with clients and partners.
- Plan, prepare, and coordinate with vendors for campaign upgrades to backup infrastructure.
- Perform storage performance analysis and troubleshoot backup-related performance and capacity issues with Platform, Database, and other teams.
- Perform basic to intermediate root cause analysis for Incident and Problem tasks.
- Identify, assess, and remediate vulnerabilities reported by security sources (scan reports, pen tests, audit findings).
- Plan, prepare, execute, and support Data Center maintenance and Disaster Recovery / Business Continuity exercises.
- Coordinate with internal clients/partners and external vendors for hardware break/fix and software cases.
- Respond to and own L1/L2 escalations; engage in taskforce resolution squads for priority/crisis incidents.
- Document, review, maintain, and share technical SOPs as part of Knowledge Management.
- Extract and prepare data for reporting and dashboards covering capacity planning, health checks, IT controls, compliance, and audits.
- Engage in Service Improvement reviews and action plans.
Must-Have Skills:
- Backup Software: Dell EMC Networker (primary, mandatory)
- Hardware: Dell DataDomain, Quantum Scalar i500, HPE StoreEver MSL
- NDMP backup and SAN (LAN-free) backup
- Backup cloning, staging, and replication operations
- Backup appliance operations – VTL and PTL
- Backup tape media operations – inventory, rotation, and recall
- Backup failover/failback in Disaster Recovery operations
- Basic to intermediate knowledge of Windows and Red Hat Linux OS with backup-related configuration
- Experience with CyberArk (privileged access management) and OMI Suite (events/alerts management)
Good-to-Have Skills:
- Additional backup tools: Avamar, Cristie, CA Arcserve
- Hardware: HPE StoreOnce, Oracle StorageTek SL8500
- Scripting/automation experience in Unix/Linux
Key Competencies:
- Minimum 6–7 years of relevant hands-on backup administration experience (5–8 years overall)
