As a Software Engineer III within the Commercial and Investment Bank Payments Technology team at JPMorganChase, you will be an experienced member of an agile team tasked with designing and delivering reliable, market-leading technology products that are secure, stable, and scalable. You will execute standard software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting. You will write secure and high-quality code, design and develop with consideration of upstream and downstream systems, apply knowledge of SDLC toolchain to improve automation value, gather and analyze large diverse datasets to identify problems and contribute to decision-making, and leverage enterprise-authorized AI coding assist tools to improve code quality, delivery speed, and productivity across complex deliverables including code generation, refactoring, unit test creation, and documentation while validating outputs through peer review, automated testing, and secure coding standards.

Minimum Requirement

Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts

Mandatory — degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent engineering discipline from a recognized institution. Candidates with non-engineering qualifications must provide formal software engineering certifications from recognized bodies such as Oracle, AWS, Microsoft, or equivalent. No exceptions.

Applied experience

Minimum 3 years of hands-on applied software engineering experience in a large corporate environment.



Experience must be evidenced at project level with specific employer, duration, and responsibilities. Generic skill listings will not be accepted.

Python

Hands-on production-grade Python development experience — minimum 2 years. Must be evidenced with specific project details including use cases, frameworks used, and scale of deployment.

Java

Hands-on production-grade Java development experience — minimum 3 years. Must include Java 8 or above, Spring Boot, and REST API development evidenced at project level.

AI Frameworks and Tools

Hands-on experience with enterprise-authorized AI frameworks and tools — minimum 2 years. Must include specific named tools such as GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, Cursor AI, LangChain, Spring AI, or equivalent. Generic references to AI tools will not be accepted. Candidates must demonstrate ability to critically evaluate, validate, and refine AI-generated outputs for correctness, performance, and security.

System Design and Application Development

Hands-on practical experience in system design, application development, testing, and operational stability in a large corporate environment. Must be evidenced with specific project-level architecture or design contributions.

Database and Querying Languages

Hands-on experience in database development and querying languages including SQL, stored procedures, views, and query optimisation. Must be evidenced at project level.

SDLC and Agile Delivery

Demonstrated experience across the full Software Development Life Cycle including CI/CD pipelines, application resiliency, and security practices. Must include specific tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or equivalent.

Large Corporate Environment

Experience must be from large corporate or enterprise environments. Profiles from exclusively startup, freelance, or small-scale environments will not be considered.

Responsible AI Use

Demonstrated understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows including data sensitivity considerations, secure handling of AI inputs and outputs, and adherence to resiliency and security expectations. Must include evidence of guiding peers on safe and effective AI usage within team practices.

Enterprise-Authorized AI-Assisted Development

Hands-on experience using enterprise-authorized AI-assisted software development tools within a skilled work environment for coding, test creation, troubleshooting, or documentation. Must demonstrate ability to validate and refine AI-generated outputs.

Technical Skills — Preferred (Candidates meeting preferred criteria will be prioritized):

Preferred Criteria

Familiarity with modern front-end technologies such as React, Angular, or equivalent

Exposure to cloud technologies including AWS, Azure, GCP, or Pivotal Cloud Foundry

Experience in Payments Technology, CIB, or highly regulated financial services environments

Exposure to machine learning, artificial intelligence, or data platform development

Experience Level: Minimum 3 years applied experience in software engineering. Candidates with experience in Payments Technology, CIB, or enterprise-scale financial platforms will be strongly preferred.

Domain/Industry: Payments Technology, Commercial and Investment Banking, or highly regulated enterprise environments.

Educational Criteria: Formal training and certification on software engineering concepts is a mandatory gating requirement. A degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or an equivalent engineering discipline is required. Candidates without a relevant engineering degree must provide formal software engineering certifications from recognized bodies. No exceptions will be made.
