The Role
We are hiring an intermediate Backend Engineer with 3+ years of hands-on experience building production systems in Python and Django. You will own services end-to-end from design through deployment, in a stack that includes Django/DRF, FastAPI, PostgreSQL, Redis, Kafka, Elasticsearch, and Docker. This is a builder role on a team where good ideas ship the same week.
Core Responsibilities
- Design, build, and own REST APIs in Django REST Framework and FastAPI
- Write production-grade Python: clean, tested, profiled, and reviewed
- Model data in PostgreSQL and tune what you ship — indexes, query plans, migrations on live data
- Use Redis where it earns its keep: caching, sessions, rate limiting, lightweight queues
- Build and operate ETL pipelines that move and transform data across systems reliably
- Produce to and consume from Kafka for event-driven and streaming workloads
- Use Elasticsearch for search, indexing, and analytics; keep it in sync with the system of record
- Containerize services with Docker; collaborate on CI/CD pipelines for automated test and deploy
- Participate in design discussions around service boundaries, data flow, failure modes
- Debug production issues end-to-end: logs, metrics, traces, hypothesis, fix, post-mortem
- Use AI-assisted coding tools to move faster; review and validate generated code before it ships
Key Requirements
- 3+ years of professional backend development experience with Python, with a substantial portion in Django
- Hands-on experience building production REST APIs in DRF; FastAPI exposure is a solid plus
- Solid PostgreSQL fundamentals — schema design, indexing, query tuning, migrations
- Production experience with Docker
- Hands-on with at least one of: Redis, Kafka, or Elasticsearch in a production setting
- Comfort with Git, code review, and modern collaborative development practices
- Familiarity with testing approaches — unit, integration, and at least exposure to TDD
- Working knowledge of cloud (AWS preferred: EC2, S3, RDS) is a plus
- Strong written and verbal communication for working with product, infra, and other engineers
- Attention to detail and a habit of thinking about edge cases, failure modes, and operability
What We Offer
- Opportunity to shape the future of unsecured lending in emerging markets
- Competitive compensation package
- Professional development and growth opportunities
- Team-oriented, innovation-focused work environment
- Comprehensive health and wellness benefits
- A high-velocity, low-bureaucracy environment where good ideas ship the same week
Location & Work Model
- Location: Gurugram, Sector 65, work from office
- Start date: Immediate joiners preferred
