The Powertrain component Duty Cycles Simulation Engineer is responsible for duty cycle/mission profile analysis for conventional and electrified architecture with specific focus on driveline components ( e.g shafts , differential ring gear etc) and define/assess design requirements with chief engineering and product release teams
Among the responsibilities of the function, the following stand out:
- The Simulation Engineer is responsible for modeling of propulsion system driveline mechanical components to simulate vehicle endurance and reliability growth schedules to support performance and durability assessment for current vehicle development
- Develops simplified 0D/1D models for driveline components including simplified thermal elements and control system for predicting duty cycles for powertrain components
- Supports analysis and processing customer drive cycle data to synthesize system and subsystem level duty cycle based on the specific failure modes of ePT components/systems
- Support design team by giving durability targets for driveline components.
Desired profile: Masters Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace, Industrial, Computer Engineering, Applied Physics, or related Engineering field
Knowledge of vehicle Propulsion Systems including internal combustion engines, transmissions, axles, drivelines, batteries, and eMotor
Knowledge in the disciplines of hybrid control strategies or energy management optimization
General knowledge of statistical analysis and ability to analyze large data to draw conclusions
Commercial codes including, but not limited to, MATLAB /Simulink, Stateflow.
