Adella Digital is hiring a Senior Shopify Developer - part-time, project based, remote from anywhere in India.

Adella Digital is a US company based in Cedar Park, Texas. We build and run growth programs for American brands: ecommerce and websites, paid media, email and lifecycle, SEO and content. Our India team operates under GulfStar, with a hub in Ahmedabad.

We're looking for a senior Shopify developer to work with us on an ongoing basis - not full-time, and not a fixed number of hours a week. Some months will be a single focused build. Others will be a steady run of store improvements across several brands. We'd rather find one excellent person we come back to repeatedly than a rotating cast of vendors.

What you'd work on

- Theme development and customisation on Shopify and Shopify Plus - Online Store 2.0 architecture, sections, blocks and metaobjects, built so a marketer can edit a page without filing a ticket
- - Recent store builds and replatforms, including data migration and URL/redirect integrity
- - Checkout and post-purchase work on Plus: checkout extensibility, Shopify Functions, scripts where they still apply
- - Conversion work with real consequences - PDP and cart improvements, upsell and cross-sell mechanics, mobile experience, A/B test implementation
- - Performance: Core Web Vitals, render-blocking assets, app bloat, image and script discipline. Several of our clients have stores that are slow for reasons nobody has ever properly diagnosed
- - Integrations: Klaviyo, subscription and reviews apps, ERP and middleware connections, custom work against the Admin GraphQL API and webhooks
- - Occasional custom app or extension work where an off-the-shelf app is the wrong answer
- - Diagnosis. A client's store breaks, or a theme update collides with three apps, and you're the person who finds out why

What we need
- 5+ years building on Shopify, with senior-level depth in Liquid and the modern theme architecture - not just editing an existing theme
- - Strong JavaScript, HTML and CSS.



You write your own front-end rather than assembling plugins
- - Shopify Plus experience - checkout extensibility, Functions, multi-store setups, or B2B
- - Comfort with the Admin and Storefront APIs, webhooks, and app integration work
- - A real understanding of ecommerce performance: what actually makes a Shopify store slow, and what is theatre
- - Git, staging discipline, and the habit of not deploying to a live store on a Friday afternoon
- - Written English strong enough to scope a task, flag a risk and explain a technical constraint to a non-technical account team
- - A portfolio of live stores you built or substantially rebuilt. Links, and what you did on each

Nice to have
- Headless or Hydrogen builds
- - Shopify app development
- - Experience on stores with complex catalogues - fitment data, configurable products, dealer or wholesale pricing
- - Experience working with US clients or US-based agencies

How the engagement works
- Part-time and ongoing. Work is scoped as projects or as hourly blocks, agreed before anything starts. You tell us what it takes; we don't hand you a fixed price and hope
- - Rates are agreed with you directly and reviewed as the relationship grows. Bring your number
- - You keep your other clients. We're not asking for exclusivity and we're not going to pretend this is a full-time job in disguise
- - Hours are flexible. We ask for a few hours of overlap with US mornings for briefs, reviews and the occasional call - the rest of your day is yours
- - Payment is per invoice, on a fixed schedule, in USD

Why this might be interesting You'd be working on US brands with real traffic and real revenue, alongside a team that handles the media, creative, email and analytics around the store - so the work you ship gets measured properly rather than disappearing into a backlog. We're also building AdellaInsight, our own AI-first marketing operating system, and store performance data feeds directly into it.
