Department: Forensic Medicine & Toxicology (FMT)

Educational Qualification

- MBBS from a recognized medical institution.
- MD/DNB in Forensic Medicine & Toxicology from a recognized institution.
- Valid registration with the appropriate State Medical Council/National Medical Commission, as applicable.
- The candidate should fulfill the eligibility requirements prescribed under the applicable NMC regulations.

Age Limit

- Maximum age limit shall be as per the applicable NMC regulations and institutional policy.
- For the specialty of Forensic Medicine, the applicable upper age limit for appointment as Senior Resident may be considered as per the latest NMC regulations.

Experience

- Preference may be given to candidates having relevant experience in Forensic Medicine & Toxicology, medico-legal work, autopsy procedures, and teaching.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

- Assist the Head of the Department and faculty members in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and training activities.
- Conduct and supervise practical classes, demonstrations, tutorials, and other academic activities as assigned.
- Assist in conducting medico-legal examinations and preparation of medico-legal reports.
- Participate in medico-legal autopsies and post-mortem examinations as per institutional and statutory requirements.




- Assist in the examination and documentation of cases involving injuries, poisoning, sexual offences, and other medico-legal matters.
- Maintain proper medico-legal records, registers, documentation, and departmental reports.
- Provide academic and clinical support to MBBS and postgraduate students.
- Participate in departmental seminars, journal clubs, case discussions, workshops, conferences, and research activities.
- Assist in maintaining departmental infrastructure, equipment, laboratories, museums, and teaching materials.
- Coordinate with police authorities, investigating agencies, courts, and other statutory authorities whenever required through appropriate institutional procedures.
- Attend court proceedings and provide expert assistance/testimony when officially deputed by the competent authority.
- Participate in institutional duties, examinations, committees, and other responsibilities assigned by the management or Head of the Department.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable NMC regulations, institutional policies, medico-legal requirements, and ethical standards.
- Perform any other academic, administrative, or departmental duties assigned from time to time.
