Role Overview

Avestar Advisory LLP is seeking a senior qualified finance professional to lead its family office operations and finance function in Chennai. The role combines financial control, Indian and cross-border taxation, compliance, accounting oversight, investment operations support and team leadership across a multi-entity, India-US operating environment.

This is a hands-on leadership position for an experienced CA, CMA or CPA who can build disciplined processes, supervise a team, manage sensitive client and firm operations, and work closely with senior management, banks, auditors, tax advisers, custodians and other external professionals.

Primary Responsibilities

Family Office Operations

- Lead day-to-day family office operations covering banking coordination, payments, documentation, record keeping, vendor administration, client requests and investment-operation support.
- Establish clear ownership, service standards, maker-checker controls, approval matrices, escalation procedures and complete audit trails.
- Coordinate account openings, cash movements, transaction documentation, statement collection, reconciliations, corporate actions and reporting inputs with banks, brokers, custodians and investment managers.
- Oversee operational dashboards, pending-item reviews, exception reporting and timely closure of service or data issues.
- Ensure sensitive client, financial and entity information is handled with appropriate confidentiality, access control and segregation of duties.

Finance, Accounting & Control
- Own the accuracy and completeness of books of account for the firm and relevant entities, including general ledger, payables, receivables, payroll entries, fixed assets, inter-company accounting and bank reconciliations.
- Lead monthly, quarterly and annual closing, including journals, accruals, provisions, balance-sheet reconciliations and supporting schedules.
- Review management accounts, budgets, cash-flow forecasts, variance analysis and financial commentary for senior management.
- Maintain robust accounting policies, SOPs, payment controls,



delegations of authority and audit-ready records.
- Oversee accounting-system quality and practical process automation across the finance and operations function.

Indian Taxation & Statutory Compliance
- Oversee Indian income-tax compliance, TDS, advance tax, tax computations, return support and coordination with tax advisers.
- Ensure accurate GST accounting, reconciliations, return filings, input-tax-credit review and resolution of mismatches or notices.
- Coordinate MCA/ROC filings, statutory registers and other Companies Act requirements with company secretaries and advisers.
- Maintain the compliance calendar for taxation, GST, TDS, payroll, audits and corporate filings, and ensure timely completion.
- Lead statutory audit, tax audit and internal review coordination, including schedules, evidence, responses and closure of observations.

US GAAP & Cross-Border Taxation
- Lead or supervise US GAAP-aligned accounting, reporting and consolidation requirements relevant to the firm and its cross-border operations.
- Coordinate India-US accounting, inter-company transactions, service arrangements, transfer-pricing support, tax information and reporting requirements.
- Work effectively with US accountants, tax professionals, auditors and other advisers on cross-border compliance and reporting matters.
- Assess the accounting and tax impact of cross-border transactions and ensure complete supporting documentation and operational follow-through.

Team & Stakeholder Leadership
- Lead, supervise and develop a multi-functional finance and family office operations team, including managers and experienced professionals.
- Set goals, allocate work, review output, manage capacity,



build cross-training and maintain clear accountability for deadlines and quality.
- Develop team capability through SOPs, checklists, coaching, structured reviews and knowledge transfer.
- Present concise updates on priorities, risks, exceptions, cash flows, compliance obligations and decisions required from management.
- Manage sensitive issues and competing priorities with sound judgement, professional discretion and timely closure.

Mandatory Candidate Requirements

Skilled qualification

CA, CMA or CPA.

Experience

Minimum 12 years of relevant post-qualification experience.

People leadership

Demonstrated team management experience, including work allocation, review, coaching and delivery accountability.

India technical knowledge

Strong practical knowledge of Indian taxation, TDS, GST, bookkeeping, financial statements, audit and MCA/ROC filings.

US and cross-border knowledge

Hands-on knowledge of US GAAP and cross-border taxation.

Operating capability

Experience establishing controls, SOPs, maker-checker processes, compliance calendars and management reporting.

Stakeholder management

Experience coordinating with banks, auditors, tax advisers, company secretaries and other professional service providers.

Location

Ability to work full-time from Chennai in an on-site role.

Preferred Background

- Family office, wealth management, investment advisory, financial services, professional services or another complex multi-entity setting.
- Experience supporting ultra-high-net-worth families, private companies, trusts, investment entities or consolidated wealth reporting.
- Exposure to portfolio accounting, investment transactions, custody documentation, finance systems and workflow automation.

Leadership Profile Hands-on, control-oriented and commercially practical. The candidate should combine technical finance depth with discretion, strong communication, team-building ability and a consistent focus on accuracy, client service and timely execution.
