Bellpep provides end-to-end support across product design and development, fabric sourcing, sampling, manufacturing, quality control, branding, and global dispatch.

Role Overview

We are looking for a creative and commercially oriented Senior Fashion Designer- Sustainable Apparel with 3- 5 years of relevant experience in fashion/apparel design and product development. The ideal candidate should have strong knowledge of sustainable and natural fabrics, hands-on experience working with such materials, and the ability to translate design concepts into commercially viable, production-ready products. The candidate will work on product development, sourcing, sampling, and production to develop apparel collections that balance design aesthetics, functionality, sustainability, quality, cost, and manufacturability.

Key Responsibilities

1. Fashion & Product Design

- Develop innovative and commercially viable apparel designs aligned with current fashion and lifestyle trends.
- Create seasonal collections, product concepts, mood boards, colour stories, and design directions.
- Develop designs across categories such as shirts, tops, dresses, loungewear, yoga/activewear, casualwear, and other lifestyle apparel.
- Translate client/brand requirements and design briefs into detailed product concepts.
- Ensure designs are aligned with the target market,



brand positioning, customer preferences, and price points.

2. Sustainable Fabric Expertise

- Identify, evaluate, and work extensively with sustainable and eco-friendly fabrics.
- Demonstrate practical experience working with fabrics such as linen, organic cotton, bamboo, hemp, recycled fabrics, Tencel/Lyocell, and sustainable blends.
- Understand fabric characteristics including drape, shrinkage, GSM, texture, breathability, colour behaviour, durability, and suitability for different garment constructions.
- Recommend appropriate sustainable fabrics based on product requirements, design intent, performance, and cost.
- Identify and assess suitable sustainable fabric suppliers and materials.

3. Product Development & Sampling

- Convert design concepts into detailed specifications and production-ready designs.
- Prepare and review tech packs, measurement specifications, construction details, trims, fabric details, and other product documentation.
- Coordinate with pattern makers, sample developers, merchandisers, and production teams for sample development.
- Review prototypes and samples and provide detailed feedback on fit, construction, fabric, finishing, and overall aesthetics.
- Conduct sample evaluations and ensure final products meet approved design and quality standards.
- Participate in fit sessions and recommend necessary modifications before bulk production.

4. Client & Custom Design Requirements

- Collaborate with the business/merchandising team to interpret client expectations and translate them into design solutions.




- Understand and make design adaptations based on client feedback while maintaining brand consistency and commercial feasibility.
- Support the development of customized/private-label collections for domestic and international clients.

7. Quality, Cost & Sustainability

- Balance creativity with cost, quality, manufacturability, and sustainability.
- Ensure design decisions are commercially viable and suitable for bulk production.
- Minimize fabric wastage through efficient design and construction considerations.
- Evaluate sustainable alternatives without compromising product quality or customer requirements.
- Ensure materials and product claims are appropriately supported by relevant certifications/documentation where applicable.

Required Skills & Competencies

- Strong knowledge of natural, organic, recycled, and innovative textile materials.
- Hands-on experience with sustainable fabrics and sustainable apparel development is mandatory.
- Good understanding of garment fit, silhouettes, patterns, trims, finishing, and construction techniques.
- Strong understanding of tech packs and garment specifications.
- Strong trend research and forecasting abilities.
- Positive commercial understanding of fashion products and consumer preferences.
- Ability to understand fabric behaviour and its impact on garment design.
- Strong attention to detail and aesthetic sensibility.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven manufacturing environment.

Software Proficiency

- Adobe Illustrator

- CorelDRAW or equivalent design software
- CAD/fashion design software

Qualification

- Bachelor's degree/diploma in Fashion Design, Apparel Design, Textile Design, Fashion Technology, or a related discipline.
- A strong portfolio demonstrating apparel design and product development experience is required.
