Role Overview

We are looking for a Senior Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to lead and supervise mechanical maintenance activities for plant equipment, ensuring high standards of equipment reliability, safety, integrity, cost efficiency and timely execution.

The role will be responsible for planning and supervising day-to-day mechanical maintenance, preventive and corrective maintenance, shutdown activities, contractor management, spares and inventory management, troubleshooting, reliability initiatives and maintenance systems. The incumbent will also work closely with the Mechanical Maintenance Lead/Manager and cross-functional teams to drive maintenance excellence and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

1. Mechanical Maintenance & Execution

- Lead and supervise day-to-day mechanical maintenance activities, ensuring safe, timely and quality execution as per approved maintenance plans and procedures.
- Review daily corrective maintenance requirements and provide inputs for daily job planning and prioritization.
- Ensure effective execution of preventive and predictive maintenance (PM/PdM) activities as per schedule.
- Supervise maintenance activities for rotating and static equipment and ensure appropriate resources, tools and materials are mobilized.
- Ensure all pending maintenance jobs are appropriately captured, prioritized and updated in the SAP-PM system.
- Ensure compliance with approved maintenance procedures, engineering standards and industry best practices.
- Monitor equipment maintenance history and ensure accurate and timely maintenance records.

1. Reliability & Equipment Integrity

- Participate in Reliability, Integrity and Maintenance Optimization studies and drive implementation of identified recommendations.
- Lead/participate in Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for recurring or critical equipment failures and ensure effective corrective and preventive actions.
- Identify opportunities for improving equipment reliability, availability and maintenance effectiveness.
- Carry out LLF activities as per the approved plan and ensure timely closure of identified actions.
- Support preservation activities for mechanical equipment as per approved schedules and procedures.
- Identify recurring equipment issues and recommend appropriate engineering or maintenance interventions.

1. Shutdown & Major Maintenance

- Lead and supervise mechanical maintenance activities during planned shutdowns and turnarounds.
- Mobilize manpower, contractors, tools, equipment, materials and other resources required for shutdown execution.
- Provide site inputs for shutdown scope definition, job sequencing, resource planning and scheduling.
- Monitor shutdown jobs at site to ensure adherence to safety, quality, schedule and scope requirements.
- Coordinate with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering,



Procurement and other stakeholders for effective shutdown execution.
- Ensure all shutdown-related documentation, permits and safety requirements are completed before execution.

1. Safety, Compliance & Work Management

- Ensure safe execution of all mechanical maintenance activities in accordance with plant safety procedures and statutory requirements.
- Ensure appropriate Permit to Work (PTW) requirements are followed and participate in permit acceptance at site.
- Ensure LOTO/isolation requirements are completed and verified before execution of mechanical/rotary equipment jobs.
- Conduct and ensure effective Tool Box Talks (TBT) for contractors and maintenance teams.
- Prepare, review and finalize HITRA / risk assessments for maintenance activities.
- Ensure compliance with SSAC and other applicable safety standards.
- Monitor field-level safety compliance and intervene where unsafe practices or conditions are identified.
- Support internal and external audits and ensure timely closure of audit observations.
- Ensure compliance with housekeeping and workplace standards and drive corrective actions.

1. Contractor & Resource Management

- Manage and supervise mechanical maintenance contractors to ensure protected, efficient and timely execution of assigned jobs.
- Plan and mobilize manpower, tools, equipment and other resources based on maintenance requirements.
- Monitor contractor performance against agreed safety, quality, productivity and schedule parameters.
- Coordinate with contractors, workshops and other service providers for repair and maintenance activities.
- Identify suitable workshops/vendors for equipment repair and refurbishment activities and ensure timely completion.

1. Spares, Inventory & Procurement

- Identify critical mechanical spares and consumables required for reliable plant operation and maintenance.
- Support spares identification, inventory modelling and criticality assessment.
- Review and validate material requirements and support preparation of Purchase Requisitions (PRs).
- Coordinate with Procurement, Buyers and suppliers for PR/PO processing and timely material delivery.
- Follow up on material delivery, inspection, GRN clearance and order closure.
- Review vendor documentation and ensure timely finalization and closure.
- Support identification and development of cost-effective and reliable vendors.
- Review existing inventory and identify opportunities for optimization without compromising equipment reliability.




- Ensure appropriate SAP material code creation, codification and extension.
- Explore and validate equipment BOMs in SAP to improve spare identification and planning.

1. Budget & Cost Management

- Support preparation of the annual mechanical maintenance budget.
- Monitor maintenance expenditure against approved budgets and identify cost variances.
- Analyze maintenance costs and identify opportunities for cost optimization and improved maintenance efficiency.
- Ensure maintenance procurement and execution activities are aligned with approved budgets.
- Drive cost-effective maintenance solutions without compromising safety, quality or equipment reliability.

1. SAP-PM / SAP-MM & Maintenance Data

- Ensure accuracy and integrity of SAP-PM and SAP-MM master and transactional data.
- Ensure timely creation, updating and closure of maintenance notifications and work orders.
- Maintain accurate equipment history, maintenance records and job documentation.
- Analyse maintenance data and generate inputs for equipment performance and maintenance KPI monitoring.
- Ensure correct material consumption, PR/PO and maintenance cost data are captured in SAP.
- Support BOM review, material codification and master-data improvement initiatives.

1. Projects & Engineering Support

- Facilitate and support minor mechanical projects and plant improvement initiatives.
- Provide maintenance inputs during equipment modification, replacement and improvement projects.
- Review technical/vendor documents related to mechanical equipment and maintenance requirements.
- Coordinate with Engineering, Operations, Procurement and vendors for project execution and commissioning-related activities.
- Ensure maintainability, reliability and lifecycle considerations are incorporated into new equipment/project designs.

1. Audit, Reporting & Knowledge Management

- Prepare and review maintenance-related documentation required for internal and external audits.
- Monitor audit observations, coordinate corrective actions and ensure timely compliance closure.
- Collate and analyse mechanical maintenance data for performance monitoring, KPI reporting and management reviews.
- Maintain equipment history, maintenance records, RCA reports, reliability studies and other technical documentation.
- Drive knowledge management and technical learning within the mechanical maintenance team.
- Share best practices, lessons learned and troubleshooting knowledge with team members and subordinates.
