Role Description The Resident Engineer is a full-time, in office role based in Chennai, responsible for supporting storage and VMware infrastructure at customer locations. This role involves monitoring and maintaining storage and virtualized environments, performing installation, configuration, and upgrades, and assisting with data migration while ensuring high availability and minimal downtime.

The Resident

Engineer will handle incident and problem resolution, coordinate with vendor support when required, and document configurations, changes, and operational procedures. The position also includes capacity planning,



performance tuning, participation in periodic audits, and providing guidance to customer teams on best practices for storage and VMware operations.

Qualifications

- Strong knowledge of enterprise storage platforms such as Hitachi VSP, Dell EMC PowerStore/PowerMax, and NetApp ONTAP, including configuration, migration, and troubleshooting.
- Hands-on experience with VMware technologies including vSphere, vSAN, SRM, and related storage integration in production environments.
- Practical skills in SAN and network infrastructure, preferably with Brocade and Cisco MDS, including zoning, connectivity, and performance optimization.
- Competence in system administration tasks such as OS-level troubleshooting, basic scripting for automation, and capacity and performance monitoring.
- Relevant technical certification(s) (e.g., VMware, storage vendor, or networking certifications) are highly beneficial.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with clear written and verbal communication skills and a customer-focused mindset.
- Ability to work independently at customer sites, manage priorities, and collaborate effectively with internal and external technical teams.
