Python / AI Developer

Role Summary The Python / AI Developer will work under the guidance of the Senior Architect-Developer to build, test and deploy AI-enabled, reusable components and services for NeGD projects, with a strong focus on hands-on GenAI/LLM implementation.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop and maintain REST APIs and microservices using Python frameworks (e.g., FastAPI, Flask, Django).
- Build AI/GenAI-enabled features including LLM integration, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) pipelines, embeddings generation and vector search.
- Develop and maintain reusable APIs, services, SDKs and common components for use across multiple NeGD projects.
- Integrate third-party and open-source LLMs / AI models into enterprise applications, including prompt design and evaluation.
- Write clean, well-tested, well-documented and maintainable code following defined architecture and coding standards.
- Collaborate with the Senior Architect-Developer on system design, technical decisions and code reviews.
- Participate in unit testing, integration testing and deployment activities for the components developed.
- Troubleshoot, debug and optimize application performance, including AI/LLM response latency and accuracy.
- Document technical designs,
APIs and reusable components for adoption by other project teams.
Mandatory Skills & Experience
- 3–5 years of solid, hands-on Python development experience.
- Solid experience building and consuming REST APIs and working with microservice architectures.
- Mandatory hands-on AI/GenAI implementation experience (not limited to theoretical knowledge) — actual project/product experience required.
- Practical experience with LLM integration, RAG pipelines, embeddings and vector databases (e.g., FAISS, Pinecone, Chroma, Weaviate).
- Experience developing reusable APIs, services and components intended for use across multiple applications/projects.
- Working knowledge of SQL/NoSQL databases and ORMs.
- Familiarity with version control (Git), containerization (Docker) and basic CI/CD workflows.
Preferred / Good-to-Have Skills
- Experience with LangChain, LlamaIndex or similar AI/LLM orchestration frameworks.
- Exposure to cloud AI services (Azure OpenAI, AWS Bedrock, Google Vertex AI).
- Prior experience on government, public sector or large-scale citizen services platforms.
- Basic understanding of frontend technologies for API/UI integration and testing.
Educational Qualification B.E./B.Tech/MCA in Computer Science, IT
