Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced Production Manager to lead and manage plant production operations with overall responsibility for safe, reliable and efficient plant performance, production delivery, quality, people capability, cost management and compliance.

The role will provide leadership to the shift operations team and work closely with Maintenance, Technical, Quality, Projects, Finance, Procurement and other functions to ensure achievement of production targets while maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, operational excellence and statutory compliance.

The role will also have significant involvement in pre-commissioning, commissioning and plant ramp-up activities, including validation of operating procedures, equipment and piping readiness, P&ID; reviews, PSSR and commissioning readiness.

Key Responsibilities

1. Production & Plant Operations

- Lead overall production operations and ensure safe and productive operation of the plant and associated equipment.
- Ensure achievement of production targets in line with approved production plans, quality standards and operational guidelines.
- Develop, review and communicate daily, weekly and monthly production plans to the shift teams.
- Ensure availability of raw materials, consumables and other operational requirements to support uninterrupted production.
- Monitor production performance, identify deviations and drive timely corrective actions.
- Optimize plant operations to improve productivity, throughput, yield and operational efficiency.
- Ensure production and raw material consumption data are accurately updated in SAP.
- Review operational performance and provide regular inputs to Plant Management on production status, constraints and improvement opportunities.

1. Safety & Process Safety Management

- Ensure safe operation of plant and equipment through strict adherence to SOPs, safety procedures and operational guidelines.
- Provide leadership in maintaining a strong process safety culture across the plant.
- Review and authorize L2 HITRA/risk assessments for applicable operational activities.
- Ensure emergency procedures are developed, validated, periodically reviewed and effectively implemented.
- Ensure shift personnel are trained and competent to respond to plant emergencies and abnormal operating conditions.
- Lead and guide the team during emergencies and ensure appropriate escalation and response.
- Ensure safe planning and execution of plant shutdowns and start-ups.
- Participate in Pre-Start-Up Safety Reviews (PSSR) and ensure timely closure of identified gaps and non-conformances.
- Promote safe work practices and ensure compliance with applicable plant safety standards and governance requirements.

1. Quality & Non-Conformance Management

- Ensure adherence to defined quality standards and operating procedures across production activities.
- Identify, investigate and drive closure of quality non-conformances in coordination with Quality and Technical teams.
- Ensure appropriate corrective and preventive actions are implemented for recurring quality issues.
- Monitor quality trends and identify opportunities for improving process stability and product quality.




- Ensure production teams understand and comply with applicable quality requirements and procedures.

1. Audit, Governance & Statutory Compliance

- Lead participation in internal, external and statutory audits related to plant operations.
- Monitor audit observations and ensure timely implementation and closure of corrective actions.
- Ensure operational compliance with applicable statutory requirements, including PESO, IBR, Factories Act and other relevant regulations.
- Ensure all governance practices, operating controls and compliance requirements are effectively implemented across the plant.
- Review and validate audit-related documentation and ensure records are maintained appropriately.
- Ensure operating and emergency SOPs are periodically reviewed, updated and validated in consultation with Technical teams.

1. Maintenance & Asset Coordination

- Coordinate with the Maintenance team for daily, weekly and monthly maintenance planning.
- Ensure production requirements are effectively integrated with preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance plans.
- Support prioritization of maintenance activities based on production requirements and equipment criticality.
- Participate in shutdown planning and ensure operational requirements and safety procedures are incorporated into shutdown plans.
- Coordinate with Maintenance, Technical and Engineering teams for equipment reliability and availability improvement.
- Ensure protected and timely plant start-up following maintenance and shutdown activities.

1. People & Shift Management

- Lead, coach and develop the shift operations team to build technical and operational capability.
- Ensure adequate manpower deployment through effective shift scheduling and manpower planning.
- Manage leave planning and shift adjustments to ensure uninterrupted plant operations.
- Identify competency gaps and develop training plans for shift personnel.
- Build a succession pipeline by developing team members for higher-level operational responsibilities.
- Assess team competency for normal operations, abnormal situations, emergency response, pre-commissioning and commissioning activities.
- Promote knowledge sharing, operational discipline and continuous learning within the team.

1. Budget & Cost Management

- Lead preparation of the production/operations budget in coordination with Finance and relevant functions.
- Monitor operational expenditure against approved budgets and identify significant deviations.
- Drive cost optimization initiatives without compromising safety, quality or production reliability.
- Coordinate with Finance, Maintenance and other functions for periodic budget reviews and forecasting.
- Support identification and procurement of operational materials and resources required for plant operations.

1. Procurement & Operational Materials

- Identify and review requirements for operational consumables,



production materials and pre-commissioning requirements.
- Initiate and coordinate procurement actions for operational requirements.
- Work with Procurement, Supply Chain and vendors to ensure timely availability of critical materials.
- Support technical evaluation and finalization of materials/equipment required for plant operations and commissioning.
- Ensure procurement activities are aligned with production requirements and approved budgets.

1. Pre-Commissioning, Commissioning & Plant Ramp-Up

- Lead/support pre-commissioning and commissioning readiness for plant systems and equipment.
- Review and validate pre-commissioning and commissioning procedures in coordination with Technical and Engineering teams.
- Ensure shift personnel are trained and competent in pre-commissioning, commissioning, normal operation and emergency procedures.
- Review and validate normal operating SOPs and emergency SOPs before plant start-up.
- Ensure SOPs are technically reviewed and validated by the appropriate Technical/Engineering teams.
- Verify readiness of equipment and systems for pre-commissioning and commissioning activities.
- Ensure equipment internals and associated components are installed as per approved engineering drawings and specifications.
- Ensure piping systems and loops achieve mechanical completion and are ready for pre-commissioning.
- Participate in PSSR for plant systems and ensure timely closure of identified non-conformances.
- Review and verify P&IDs; against actual plant installation and operational requirements.
- Participate in instrument and electrical loop checking and logic verification.
- Coordinate with Projects, Maintenance, Engineering, Operations and other stakeholders to resolve commissioning-related issues.
- Support plant ramp-up and stabilization following commissioning.
- Identify operational risks and constraints during ramp-up and drive appropriate corrective actions.
- Ensure required materials, consumables and resources are available for pre-commissioning and commissioning activities.

1. Plant Improvement & Operational Excellence

- Identify opportunities for improving production efficiency, process stability, productivity and cost effectiveness.
- Lead/participate in operational improvement and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Analyse production losses, process deviations and operational constraints and drive corrective actions.
- Encourage adoption of best practices across shifts and operating areas.
- Support implementation of recommendations arising from technical studies, audits and operational reviews.

1. Plant Manager Support & Leadership

- Support the Plant Manager in overall plant operations, production planning, manpower, compliance and operational governance.
- Act as Plant Manager in their absence, providing leadership and ensuring continuity of plant operations.
- Provide management with regular updates on production performance, safety, quality, manpower, maintenance and operational risks.
- Coordinate cross-functional teams to resolve critical operational issues and ensure business continuity.
- Take ownership of key operational decisions within the defined authority and escalation framework.
