Whats the Role?
We are looking for a Product Innovation and Design Manager who is equally at home defining a new product concept and opening Figma to prototype it themselves. This is a senior role that combines: the strategic product thinking to identify and incubate new solutions, the hands-on design craft to bring those concepts to life using Figma and AI-powered prototyping tools such as Claude Design, and the management experience to lead and grow Qulois UX team.
You will own the full arc from discovery to validated prototype — running user research, shaping product direction, designing and iterating in Figma, and leveraging Claude Design to accelerate high-fidelity prototyping before a single line of production code is written. Once a recent module or solution is validated, you need to follow the Product basics and prepare the BRD, PRD and make sure the solution is documented properly.
Responsibilities/ Duties
1. Lead New Feature Discovery and Incubation:
- Identify opportunities for entirely new product modules/features by monitoring industry trends, competitor products, regulatory developments, and evolving logistics standards.
- Define proof-of-concept criteria and validate new concepts with pilot customers before committing engineering resources to full development.
- Maintain an innovation backlog — a prioritised pipeline of ideas at different validation stages — reviewed regularly with the Head of Product and leadership.
- Own the structured Product process from validated new modules to ensuring design assets, and product requirements are fully documented.
1. Design and Prototype Hands-On in Figma and Claude Design:
- Create wireframes, interaction flows, and high-fidelity UI designs directly in Figma for all new product initiatives and innovation concepts.
- Use Claude Design to rapidly generate and iterate on prototypes,
accelerating the design-to-validation cycle and exploring a broader solution space before committing to a direction.
- Build and maintain a shared Figma component library and design system that all product surfaces — core and local versions — draw from, ensuring visual and interaction consistency across the platform.
- Produce handoff-ready design specifications, annotated prototypes, and developer notes that engineering teams can implement without ambiguity.
1. Lead and Develop the UX Team:
- Manage and mentor the UX team (UX researchers, interaction designers, UI designers), setting transparent goals, development plans, and quality standards.
- Own the UX team roadmap and ensure design capacity is allocated across innovation initiatives, core product enhancements, and local version requirements — coordinated through the AI PM Orchestrator.
- Conduct structured design reviews and hold a consistently high bar for usability, accessibility, and visual quality across all Quloi product surfaces.
- Actively develop team members’ skills in AI-assisted design tooling, including Claude Design, as part of the team’s ongoing capability uplift.
1. Drive UX Research for New Solutions:
- Plan and lead UX research activities (user interviews, usability testing, journey mapping, contextual inquiry) to validate new module concepts at every stage.
- Synthesise research findings into clear product requirements, design briefs, and prioritised problem statements that both the UX team and engineering can act on.
- Ensure user insight drives every design decision — from initial concept sketch to final prototype — rather than being a one-time input at the start of discovery.
1. Collaborate Across the PM Organisation:
- Work with the VP of Product to ensure new modules are architecturally and visually compatible with the existing platform — building on the existing product database rather than rebuilding from scratch.
- Brief Local Version PMs on new modules entering the pipeline early enough for regional design requirements to be incorporated in the initial Figma files.
- Participate in cross-PM syncs and AI PM Orchestrator-led workflows covering documentation, Confluence pages, and Jira ticket hygiene.
1. Measure Innovation and Design Impact:
- Define success metrics at the proof-of-concept stage for each new module (e.g., pilot adoption rate,
task completion in usability tests, stakeholder confidence score, prototype-to-build time saved via Claude Design).
- Track UX team performance including design delivery cycle time, usability test scores, design system adoption rate, and cross-team satisfaction.
- Report innovation pipeline status, prototype velocity, and UX team throughput to leadership on a regular cadence.
Criteria for the Role!
- Experience: 6+ years of combined Product Management and UX/Design experience. Candidates with only a PM background and no hands-on design craft, or only a design background with no PM experience, will not be considered.
- Figma Proficiency: Advanced Figma skills are non-negotiable — you must be able to independently produce wireframes, high-fidelity UI designs, interactive prototypes, and a structured component library to a professional standard.
- Claude Design Experience: Demonstrated experience using Claude Design or equivalent AI-powered prototyping tools to generate, iterate on, and validate product concepts. Ability to brief, prompt, and critically evaluate AI-generated design output.
- UX Team Management: Minimum 2 years of formal people management responsibility for a UX or product design team, including goal-setting, performance development, and capacity planning.
- 0-to-1 Product Experience: Proven track record of taking a new product concept from initial idea to validated proof-of-concept in a B2B SaaS environment. Portfolio evidence is required.
- UX Research Fluency: Hands-on experience planning and conducting user research (not just commissioning it). You know when to run a usability test versus a user interview, and can do both yourself when needed.
- Design Systems: Experience building and governing a shared component library or design system used by multiple teams or product surfaces.
- Industry Domain knowledge is a strong advantage: Strong interest in logistics, supply chain, or trade technology; able to understand an industry standard or regulatory document and translate it into a product and design implication.
- Platform Awareness: Understands multi-tenant SaaS platform architecture at a conceptual level; designs with component reuse, localisation, and scalability in mind from the first wireframe.
- Communication: Able to present early-stage, ambiguous concepts confidently to senior stakeholders and translate feedback into actionable design and product decisions.
- Tooling: Figma (advanced), Claude Design, Jira, Confluence. Familiarity with handoff tools (Figma Dev Mode, Zeplin) and user testing platforms (Maze, UserTesting, Lookback) is an advantage.
