Role Summary The Process Simulate Automation Engineer will design and enhance intelligent automation products within Siemens Tecnomatix Process Simulate. The role focuses on robotic manufacturing simulation, automated path planning, welding-operation optimization, equipment and object-flow automation, offline programming, ergonomic positioning, and collision-free multi-robot coordination. The engineer will combine strong C#/.NET development with mathematics, geometric computation, robotics, and optimization algorithms to deliver reliable production-ready solutions.

Key Responsibilities

- Develop and enhance automation applications, APIs, scripts, plug-ins, and DLL integrations for Siemens Tecnomatix Process Simulate.
- Design algorithms that minimize robot via points while preserving path accuracy, process safety, reachability, and collision clearance.
- Automate the resequencing of welding spots to optimize robot path length, cycle time, accessibility, and process constraints.
- Determine optimal welding-gun orientation for each spot and improve gun open/close parameters for speed, reliability, and weld quality.
- Create automatic operation-sequencing logic that can adapt to cycle-time and station-level constraints.
- Develop resequencing capabilities across stations to improve overall process flow and production-cycle performance.
- Implement robot zoning, interference management, collision detection, and collision-free path generation for shared workspaces.
- Generate accurate robot Offline Programming (OLP) outputs suitable for downstream validation and execution with minimal manual intervention.
- Integrate recent automation modules with existing applications while maintaining compatibility, performance, and workflow consistency.
- Conduct functional, accuracy, robustness, and performance testing; validate simulation results against available real-world data.
- Prepare source-code documentation, user guides,

technical methods, training materials, and structured handover packages.

Required Technical Skills
- Hands-on expertise with Siemens Tecnomatix Process Simulate, including robotic simulation, robotic operations, process planning, equipment placement, and manufacturing-cell validation.
- Experience with Process Simulate automation APIs, scripting, customization, plug-in development, or DLL integration.
- Strong C# and .NET programming skills, with sound object-oriented design, API integration, debugging, exception handling, and maintainable coding practices.
- Strong foundation in linear algebra, vector mathematics, coordinate systems, transformation matrices, trigonometry, 3D geometry, and computational geometry.
- Good understanding of robot kinematics and inverse kinematics, reachability, joint configurations, singularities, and motion constraints.
- Experience developing or applying path-planning and optimization algorithms such as A*, Dijkstra, RRT, heuristic search, constraint-based optimization, and collision-avoidance methods.
- Working knowledge of Git or an equivalent version-control system and disciplined software configuration management.

Optimization and Algorithm Experience
- Graph theory, shortest-path search, sampling-based motion planning, and search-space reduction.
- Collision detection, clearance evaluation, robot-workspace zoning, and multi-robot interference management.
- Genetic algorithms, metaheuristic methods, constraint solving, or multi-objective optimization for cycle time, path length, quality, and safety.
- Geometric reasoning for gun orientation, tool-center-point motion, equipment movement, object flow, and manikin or ergonomic positioning.

Education and Experience

- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Robotics, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Manufacturing Engineering, Automation, or a related discipline.
- Demonstrable hands-on experience delivering Process Simulate customization, robotic path-planning, OLP, or manufacturing-simulation automation solutions.
- Experience in automotive body-in-white, robotic welding, assembly-line simulation, virtual commissioning, or similar manufacturing environments is preferred.

Key Deliverables
- Enhanced automatic path planner with reduced via points and validated path quality.
- User-controlled robot configuration settings and automated configuration support where required.
- Automatic welding-spot resequencing and optimal gun-orientation functionality.
- Optimized operation sequencing, gun open/close behavior, and cross-station resequencing.
- Integrated application modules compatible with the existing software environment.
- Robot OLP generation and collision-free zoning validated through simulation and testing.
- Test reports, source code, technical documentation, user manuals, and training materials.

Behavioral Competencies
- Strong analytical thinking and the ability to translate manufacturing problems into practical algorithms.
- Structured debugging, root-cause analysis, and attention to simulation accuracy and software quality.
- Clear communication with manufacturing, robotics, process-planning, and software stakeholders.
- Ownership of deliverables, estimates, documentation, and timely technical escalation.
- Ability to collaborate in a milestone-driven, cross-functional engineering environment.

Success Measures
- Reduced robot path complexity and cycle time without compromising safety or process accuracy.
- Reliable automated spot sequencing, gun orientation, OLP generation, and collision avoidance.
- Seamless integration with existing applications and stable execution within Process Simulate.
- Simulation results are repeatable, validated, documented, and suitable for engineering adoption.
