Position Overview:

The Principal Designer is a strategic leader responsible for overseeing the design process across multiple projects, with a particular focus on high-value, high-budget assignments.

This role demands exceptional creative vision, strong leadership skills, and the ability to manage complex projects from conception to completion. The Principal Designer will ensure design excellence, client satisfaction, and alignment with the company’s strategic goals while mentoring the design team and contributing to business development.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Project Oversight:

○ Oversee the entire design process for multiple projects, ensuring timely completion, adherence to quality standards, and alignment with client expectations. ○ Take a hands-on approach to leading high-budget, high-value projects, setting benchmarks for quality and innovation.
1. Team Leadership:

○ Lead, mentor, and support interior designers, junior team members, and interns to foster professional growth and deliver exceptional design outcomes. ○ Delegate tasks effectively while maintaining oversight to ensure cohesive team performance.
1. Client Relations:

○ Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, understanding and addressing their needs and preferences to ensure satisfaction and repeat business. ○ Build strong client relationships to foster trust and collaboration.
1. Design Development:

○ Develop and refine design concepts, layouts,



and detailed documentation for projects of all scales, emphasizing creativity and functionality. ○ Ensure the highest standards of design integrity in high-budget projects while maintaining consistency across regular assignments.
1. Collaboration:

○ Work closely with architects, contractors, and vendors to ensure seamless project execution and adherence to the design intent. ○ Coordinate multidisciplinary efforts to address challenges and optimize outcomes.
1. Budget Management:

○ Prepare and manage project budgets, ensuring cost-effectiveness and alignment with financial constraints. ○ Monitor expenditures for high-value projects to maintain profitability and financial control.
1. Site Visits:

○ Conduct regular site visits to monitor progress, uphold design integrity, and resolve on-site issues. ○ Ensure all projects meet quality standards and design specifications during execution.
1. Business Development:

○ Participate in client pitches and contribute to business development initiatives, focusing on securing both regular and premium projects.

○ Leverage high-profile projects to enhance the company’s reputation and market presence.

1. Documentation:

○ Maintain comprehensive project documentation, including detailed reports, presentations, and updates for all project types.

○ Ensure efficient record-keeping for future reference and analysis.

1. Strategic Alignment:

● Align the design team’s efforts with the company’s strategic vision and long-term goals. ● Emphasize design excellence and innovation across all project scales.

Qualifications:

● Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or a related field.

● 10+ years of experience in design leadership roles, with a proven track record of managing high-value projects.

● Strong creative and technical skills, with expertise in design software and project management tools.

● Exceptional communication, leadership, and client relationship management abilities.

● A strategic mindset with the ability to balance creative vision and business priorities.
