Microsoft Office 365 Engineer

Position Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Microsoft Office 365 Engineer to design, implement, and support the flattening and consolidating of a multi-tenant ecosystem into a defined, standard tenant. The ideal candidate should have 10 years of Office 365 engineering experience and have demonstrable experience organizing and supporting tenant migrations.

Experience with migration utilities such as Quest, or Avepoint.

Experience with PowerShell scripting is a must. Candidate should also be familiar with Office 365 migrations supporting Exchange, SharePoint (Sites and Files), Teams, and One-Drive.

This role will also support go-live support of tenant migration projects through warranty period and provide project handoff to long-term support teams

Key Responsibilities

- Engineering & Design
- Design and implement Microsoft tenant migrations
- Roadmap on-prem AD instances of acquired entities to a common Office 365 tenant.
- Design and implement O365 data migrations to centralized Office 365 tenant.
- Collaborate technology leadership to create the Standard Operating Procedures for future migrations.
- Automation & Optimization
- Create automation tools to support data migrations to establish a repeatable and sustainable process for future data migrations
- Leverage migration utilities such as Quest or Avepoint to streamline data ingestion
- Identify and remediate process inefficiencies through engineering solutions.
- Security & Compliance
- Align and maintain role-based access controls (RBAC), least privilege, and zero trust principles.




- Partner with InfoSec to monitor and respond to identity-related threats and vulnerabilities.
- Operations & Support
- Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) for Office 365 related incidents and escalations associated with tenant migrations
- Collaborate with infrastructure, security, business, and application teams to ensure seamless Office 365 tenant integrations
- Perform root cause analysis and lead long-term fixes that emerge from tenant migration activities.

Qualifications

- Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or equivalent experience.
- 8-10+ years of hands-on experience in Office 365 Engineering and Administration, as well as Entra and on-Prem Active Directory.
- Experience with one or more Microsoft tenant migrations tools (Quest, Avepoint, or other).
- Proficiency in scripting/automation (PowerShell, Python).
- Familiarity with Active Directory, DNS, cloud IAM (Azure), and privilege management solutions.
- Excellent problem-solving, organizational, analytical, and communication skills.

Preferred Skills

- Knowledge of DevOps/CI/CD practices for IAM configuration and deployment.
- Appropriate Microsoft certification relating to Office 365 ecosystems.
- Exposure to Zero Trust and cloud security architecture.
