Role Purpose To lead learning and capability development across all Epoch Elder Care facilities. The role is responsible for orientation, training, competency development, learning systems and training records.
It also supports the Quality Head by planning training based on audit findings, incidents, compliance gaps and organizational priorities.
Key Responsibilities
1. Learning Strategy and Capability Development
- Develop and implement the organization-wide learning and development strategy in alignment with
business priorities, resident-care needs, regulatory requirements and quality goals.
- Prepare the annual and monthly training calendars for nursing, care attendants, facility
management, housekeeping, food and beverage, engagement, admissions and other support functions.
- Conduct training-needs analysis using audits, incident trends, performance gaps, resident needs,
manager feedback and regulatory requirements.
- Design, develop, standardize and periodically update training modules, facilitator guides,
presentations, assessments, bilingual learning aids and competency checklists.
- Lead orientation and structured onboarding for recent employees, including role-specific induction,
on-the-job learning and completion tracking.
- Conduct or coordinate classroom, virtual, in-service and practical training; develop internal
trainers, topic experts and training champions across facilities.
- Evaluate training effectiveness through pre- and post-tests, competency demonstrations, audits,
observations, outcome measures and retraining plans.
- Maintain training MIS, attendance, competency, certification and retraining records; present trends
and actions to management.
- Coach and mentor managers, nurses, care teams and internal trainers to strengthen ownership of
learning and performance.
1. Quality and Compliance Support
- Work with the Quality Head to understand audit findings, incident learnings, compliance gaps and
areas requiring staff development.
- Prepare and conduct refresher training, competency checks and awareness sessions based on
quality priorities.
- Support staff preparation for internal audits, NABH assessments, mock drills and other
compliance activities through training.
- Assist in communicating revised SOPs, policies, protocols and checklists to employees and
ensure training completion is recorded.
- Share training-related observations and repeated competency gaps with the Quality Head and
concerned department heads.
- Participate in quality and incident-review meetings when training inputs or follow-up actions are
required.
1. Digital Learning and Documentation Systems
- Lead training and user adoption for the LMS, digital care documentation and operational
applications.
- Define training, adoption, documentation and audit requirements for systems such as
CareFlick/NOVA, Katha and other approved platforms.
- Partner with technology vendors and internal users to improve workflows, forms, dashboards,
alerts, audit trails and user capability.
- Train employees in the correct use of digital systems and provide refresher support when required.
- Monitor completion of assigned digital learning and share usage or training gaps with concerned
stakeholders.
1. Leadership and Cross-functional Collaboration
- Serve as the subject-matter lead for organizational learning and employee capability development.
- Partner with department heads and facility leaders to agree priorities, responsibilities, timelines
and measurable outcomes.
- Provide recommendations to leadership on training needs, competency gaps and learning
priorities.
- Ensure new services, processes, equipment and standards are supported by appropriate staff
training.
- Represent the Learning & Quality function in leadership reviews, projects and cross-functional
meetings. Key Deliverables / Performance Indicators
- Annual learning strategy and timely execution of approved training calendars.
- Orientation, mandatory training and competency completion rates across facilities.
- Improvement in pre/post assessment scores, observed competencies and post-training audit
results.
- Timely completion of training actions arising from audits, incidents and quality reviews.
- Staff awareness and competency regarding applicable SOPs, policies and compliance
requirements.
- Reliable monthly MIS and leadership reporting on training delivery, attendance, assessments and
outcomes.
- Improved adoption of approved learning and documentation systems.
Qualifications and Experience
- Graduate/Postgraduate qualification in Nursing, Healthcare Management, Hospital Administration,
Quality, Education or a related field.
- Registered Nurse qualification is strongly preferred due to the clinical and elder-care scope of the
role.
- Relevant certification or demonstrated experience in dementia care, infection prevention,
BLS/CPR, NABH awareness or training is desirable.
- Minimum 10-12 years of relevant experience in learning and development, clinical education or
healthcare training; leadership experience is preferred.
- Experience in elder care, assisted living, long-term care, hospitals or other resident/patient-care
settings is highly desirable.
Required Competencies
- Strong knowledge of adult learning, instructional design, facilitation, competency assessment and
training evaluation.
- Sound understanding of clinical care, dementia care, resident safety, infection prevention,
documentation standards and service quality.
- Basic working knowledge of healthcare quality, incident learning and accreditation requirements.
- Ability to develop clear training content, competency checklists, learning dashboards and
management reports.
- Strong analytical ability, attention to detail, judgment, prioritization and follow-through.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, presentation, coaching and stakeholder-management
skills.
- Comfort with LMS, digital documentation platforms, spreadsheets, presentations and data-based
review.
- Ability to travel between facilities and work collaboratively with multidisciplinary and frontline
teams. Role Authority and Accountability The Head - Learning & Quality is accountable for planning, delivering and monitoring learning and competency-development activities. The Quality Head retains ownership of quality audits, CAPA,
incident governance, accreditation and compliance monitoring. Department and facility heads remain responsible for operational implementation and staff performance.
