This is a project-based build role. You will be deploying, migrating and cutting over network and security infrastructure — not running a support queue. We need engineers who plan the work, configure the kit, run the change and hand it over, then move on to the next one. If you have spent the last few years standing up new estates, migrating off legacy platforms and delivering change through implementation windows, read on.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

- Build and deploy enterprise routing and switching infrastructure, configuring BGP and OSPF from design through to live traffic.

- Migrate legacy routing and switching estates onto new platforms, including cutover planning, testing and rollback.

- Deploy firewalls and implement policy and rule sets, including firewall migrations, consolidation and rule base rationalisation.

- Build and migrate load balancers (F5 or equivalent), configuring VIPs, pools, health monitors and traffic distribution for new and migrated services.

- Deploy and migrate proxy and secure web gateway platforms (Blue Coat, Zscaler or similar), including policy-based access control, SSL inspection and URL filtering.

- Produce the implementation artefacts that go with the build: HLDs and LLDs, configuration standards, test plans, method statements and backout plans.

- Own delivery of your workstream end to end — planning, raising and presenting changes, coordinating with other teams and vendors, executing the implementation and validating the result.





- Work implementation windows, including out of hours and weekends where the change requires it.

- Troubleshoot during build and cutover, resolving routing, switching, firewall, load balancing and proxy issues before handover to operations.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED

- Demonstrable project implementation and migration experience — you have delivered builds and cutovers, not just supported them.

- Strong hands-on routing and switching, with BGP and OSPF at CCNP or CCIE level.

- Hands-on firewall deployment, policy configuration and migration experience (enterprise firewalls; this is not a data centre fabric role).

- Load balancing build experience with F5 or equivalent.

- Proxy and secure web gateway deployment experience across one or more platforms (Blue Coat, Zscaler or similar), including migrations between them.

- Comfortable physically deploying and configuring kit, and directing or coordinating other engineers and third parties where needed.

- Confident working to strict change control in a large enterprise environment, and able to guide project managers through the right sequencing of network activity.

- Transparent communicator who writes usable documentation and works well across infrastructure, security and project teams.

CERTIFICATIONS

- CCNP or CCIE (Enterprise / Routing & Switching) required.

- Firewall vendor certifications desirable (Fortinet NSE, Palo Alto PCNSE, Check Point CCSA/CCSE).
