About Mehta Tubes Limited

Mehta Tubes Limited is an established copper and copper-alloy tube manufacturer operating under the MEXFLOW® brand. Our Umbergaon facility (Unit II) runs modern tube-making operations — melting, casting, extrusion, drawing, annealing, finning and finishing — serving HVAC, medical gas pipeline, plumbing and industrial applications. We invest in current manufacturing technology and in the people who run it, and we manage our operations on Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central.

About the Role

You will own the metallurgy of copper and copper-alloy tube — from raw material through melting, casting, extrusion, drawing and annealing to finished product. Your work ensures grain size, temper, mechanical properties and microstructure meet ASTM/EN specifications and customer requirements, and you'll investigate defects and failures and drive them out. This is specialised, genuinely technical work in a copper-tube environment — a strong platform for a metallurgist who wants depth in non-ferrous processing rather than generic QC.

Key Responsibilities

- Verify chemical composition and metallurgical properties of copper/copper-alloy raw material, semi-finished and finished tube.
- Conduct/coordinate grain-size measurement, hardness, tensile/elongation, microstructure, conductivity and other tests.
- Control and optimise annealing / bright-annealing and temper (e.g. O60/H55/H80 tempers) to meet specified mechanical properties and grain size.
- Support and troubleshoot metallurgy across melting, casting, extrusion and drawing — including work-hardening, intermediate annealing and draw-schedule effects on properties.

- Investigate copper-tube defects and non-conformities — oxide/inclusion issues, porosity, surface defects, cracks, eccentricity, grain-size and temper deviations, discoloration/oxidation.
- Perform failure analysis, fracture and microstructural examination and determine probable mechanisms.
- Run Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and drive corrective & preventive actions.
- Interpret and apply ASTM (e.g. B68 / B75 / B111 / B280 / B359) and EN copper-tube standards, drawings and customer specifications.
- Support new product / alloy development and process qualification (Cu-DHP, CuNi 90/10 and other alloys as applicable).
- Manage the metallurgical laboratory — equipment calibration, testing accuracy and traceability.
- Prepare test reports, material certificates (mill/inspection certificates), failure-analysis and technical reports.
- Drive improvements in material quality, yield and process consistency while reducing scrap, rejection, rework and customer complaints.

Key Accountabilities / KPIs

- Reduced metallurgical defects & rejection
- Annealing/temper & grain-size conformance to spec
- Accurate, on-time material testing & certification
- Faster, conclusive failure/defect analysis
- Reduced scrap & rework
- Fewer metallurgical customer complaints
- Standards & spec compliance (ASTM/EN)

Educational Qualification B.E./B.Tech in Metallurgical Engineering / Materials Engineering / Metallurgy.

Experience

Minimum 2–5 years in metallurgy/quality — non-ferrous / copper / tube / wire / metal-processing experience strongly preferred.

Technical Skills

- Physical & mechanical metallurgy of copper & copper alloys

- Annealing / bright annealing & temper control
- Grain-size, microstructure & material characterisation
- Mechanical & metallurgical testing (hardness, tensile, conductivity)
- Defect & failure analysis, RCA
- ASTM / EN copper-tube standards & spec interpretation
- Metallurgical lab practices, calibration & traceability

ERP / Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central Requirement level: Basic user — Optional

ERP exposure is not required; comfort recording test data/certificates in a system is a plus. Business Central exposure is a bonus, not a requirement.

Behavioural / Soft Skills

Analytical, investigative, precise, good technical documentation, collaborative with production and quality.

What You Will Learn / Exposure

- Deep, specialised copper & copper-alloy tube metallurgy
- Annealing/temper control and drawing/extrusion metallurgy in practice
- Failure analysis and lab management to ASTM/EN standards
- New alloy/product development (e.g. CuNi 90/10)

Why Join Mehta Tubes? Specialised, hands-on non-ferrous metallurgy you won't get in a generic QC role: control real annealing and temper on copper tube, run failure analysis to ASTM/EN standards, and contribute to new alloy and product development.

Candidate Profile A metallurgical engineer (min 2 yrs) with non-ferrous/copper or metal-processing exposure, solid on annealing/temper, microstructure and failure analysis, and fluent in ASTM/EN material standards.

Recruiter Screening — Must Have

✔ BE/B.Tech Metallurgy / Materials (min 2 yrs; no freshers)

✔ Non-ferrous / copper / tube / wire / metal-processing background preferred

✔ Annealing & temper control understanding

✔ Grain-size, microstructure, mechanical testing

✔ Failure analysis + RCA

✔ ASTM/EN standards interpretation

✔ General shift, Umbergaon (lab + shop floor)

Pay: ₹12,063.40 - ₹41,530.18 per month

Advantages

- Food provided

Work Location: In person
