Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced MES Validation, Testing & Quality Assurance Engineer with strong expertise in Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), SCADA, PLC connectivity, IT/OT integration, databases, and Industry 4.0 applications.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for validating and testing end-to-end manufacturing solutions, ensuring data integrity, system reliability, integration accuracy, regulatory compliance, and production readiness across shopfloor and enterprise environments.

The candidate should have hands-on experience working with

MES/SCADA platforms, Ignition, Kepware, PLCs, industrial communication protocols, SQL databases, and enterprise systems such as SAP/ERP.

Key Responsibilities

1. MES Testing & Validation

- Develop and execute comprehensive test strategies, test plans, test scenarios, test cases, and test scripts for MES, SCADA, and Industry 4.0 applications.
- Validate end-to-end manufacturing workflows, including:

- Production tracking

- Work order execution

- OEE monitoring

- Downtime management

- Traceability and genealogy

- Recipe management

- Production reporting

- Manufacturing performance monitoring
- Perform Functional, System, Integration, Regression, Performance, and User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
- Ensure MES functionality aligns with business, operational, manufacturing, and technical requirements.

1. Manufacturing Data Integrity & Validation

- Validate the accuracy, completeness, consistency, and integrity of manufacturing data across shopfloor systems, MES, SCADA, historians, databases, and enterprise applications.
- Perform end-to-end data reconciliation between manufacturing and enterprise systems.
- Verify business rules, calculations, transactions, workflows, and system-generated manufacturing data.
- Validate real-time and historical production data.

1. Machine Connectivity &

• IT/OT Integration Testing

- Validate connectivity and data acquisition between manufacturing equipment, PLCs, SCADA systems, MES, and enterprise applications.
- Test industrial automation platforms including:

- Siemens
- Rockwell / Allen-Bradley

- Schneider

- Mitsubishi

- Omron
- Validate industrial communication protocols such as:
- OPC-UA / OPC-DA

- MQTT

- Modbus TCP/IP

- Ethernet/IP

- Profinet

- Euromap63

- Euromap77

- MTConnect
- Validate reliable and secure PLC-to-SCADA/MES communication and end-to-end shopfloor data flows.

1. Kepware &

• Edge Connectivity Validation

- Test Kepware server configurations, tags, device connectivity, tag quality, data refresh rates, and communication reliability.
- Validate PLC Kepware SCADA/MES data flows.
- Test communication resilience, connection failures, recovery, and data consistency.
- Identify and troubleshoot connectivity and data acquisition issues.

1. SCADA &

• Ignition Testing

- Perform validation and testing of Inductive Automation Ignition platforms, including:

- Ignition Gateway

- Vision

- Perspective

- Historian

- Alarm Management

- Reporting

- Dashboards

- Scripting
- Validate Ignition APIs, web services, and third-party integrations.
- Verify real-time visualization, alarms, historical data, reporting, and system performance.

Enterprise System Integration Testing

- Validate integrations between MES, SAP, ERP, WMS, LIMS, historians, and other enterprise applications.
- Test APIs, web services, middleware, and data exchange mechanisms.
- Validate bidirectional IT/OT data flows while ensuring transactional integrity and traceability.
- Test scenarios involving system failures, retries, duplicate transactions, and data synchronization.

1. Database Testing &

• Validation

- Perform backend validation using:

- Microsoft SQL Server

- PostgreSQL

- MySQL
- Execute SQL queries to validate manufacturing transactions and business rules.

- Validate

- Stored procedures

- Views

- Triggers

- ETL processes

- Historian data

- Data reconciliation

- Data integrity
- Reconcile frontend/MES data against backend database records.

1. Manufacturing KPI, Reporting &

• Analytics Validation

- Validate manufacturing KPIs and calculations, including:

- OEE

- MTBF

- MTTR

- Downtime

- Throughput

- Scrap rate

- Production efficiency

- Cycle time
- Verify dashboards, reports, and analytics against real-time and historical manufacturing data.
- Ensure reported KPIs accurately reflect underlying production transactions.

1. Test Automation &

• Continuous Improvement

- Support the development and implementation of automated testing frameworks for MES, SCADA, APIs, databases, and integration scenarios.
- Identify repetitive manual testing activities suitable for automation.
- Develop reusable automated regression test assets to improve testing coverage and efficiency.
- Analyse recurring defects, quality trends, and testing bottlenecks.

- Drive continuous improvement, standardization, and best practices across the Industry 4.0 testing lifecycle.

1. FAT, SAT, UAT & Production Readiness

- Prepare and execute:

- FAT Factory Acceptance Testing

- SAT Site Acceptance Testing

- UAT User Acceptance Testing

- Production readiness assessments
- Coordinate with engineering, manufacturing, IT, OT, vendors, and business teams during validation activities.

- Verify corrective actions and ensure systems meet acceptance criteria before production deployment.

1. Defect Management & Root Cause Analysis

- Manage defects throughout the complete defect lifecycle.
- Log, track, prioritize, and communicate defects using appropriate defect management tools.

- Perform root cause analysis for functional, integration, connectivity, and data-related issues.
- Work with development, automation, engineering, and manufacturing teams to resolve defects.
- Perform retesting and regression testing following defect resolution.

1. System Reliability & Operational Support

- Validate High Availability (HA), failover, backup, restore, and Disaster Recovery (DR) scenarios.
- Support production readiness and operational stability.
- Monitor system quality, production telemetry, and operational performance.
- Identify opportunities to improve system reliability, performance, and business continuity.

1. Compliance & Validation

- Ensure testing and validation activities align with applicable manufacturing and Industry 4.0 standards, including:
- ISA-95

- ISA-88

- GAMP5
- Maintain appropriate validation evidence and ensure traceability between requirements, test cases, results, and defects.





- Support audit and regulatory requirements where applicable.

1. Documentation & Knowledge Management

- Prepare and maintain:

- Test strategies

- Test plans

- Test cases and scenarios

- Requirements Traceability Matrices (RTM)

- Test execution evidence

- Validation records

- Defect logs

- Test reports

- Compliance documentation

- Operational handover documents
- Ensure all validation and testing artifacts are complete, accurate, traceable, and audit-ready.

- Contribute to knowledge management, standard operating procedures, and testing best practices.

Required Technical Skills Must-Have
- Strong experience in MES testing, validation, or quality assurance.
- Hands-on experience with manufacturing processes and shopfloor applications.
- Experience with SCADA and MES integration.
- Experience with PLC connectivity and IT/OT data flows.
- Solid understanding of SQL/database validation.
- Experience with integration testing and data reconciliation.
- Experience with FAT, SAT, UAT, regression, functional, and system testing.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing concepts such as OEE, downtime, traceability, genealogy, work orders, recipes, and production tracking.

Preferred / Good to Have
- Experience with Ignition SCADA.
- Experience with Kepware.
- Knowledge of OPC-UA / OPC-DA, MQTT, Modbus TCP/IP, Ethernet/IP, and Profinet.
- Experience with Siemens, Rockwell/Allen-Bradley, Schneider, Mitsubishi, or Omron PLC environments.
- Experience integrating MES with SAP/ERP, WMS, LIMS, historians, and other enterprise systems.
- Experience with test automation for APIs, databases, MES, or SCADA applications.
- Knowledge of ISA-95, ISA-88, GAMP5, and Industry 4.0 standards.
- Experience with HA, failover, backup/restore, and DR testing.
